<J2k^> hi Adonis <Peanut846> hello <Peanut846> i am just experimenting with software I got from my school and i have set up a box with windows 2k3 enterprise and exchange server 2003 <Peanut846> we can send and receive email from within the domain, but we can only send email outside of the domain and not receive it from outside the domain <Peanut846> how do i go about getting this woprking <WrldBFree> well you would first need to ask yourself if the domain is registered on the internet <WrldBFree> and if you have your MX records setup correctly on your external DNS server... <WrldBFree> and he is gone <DortoH> hehe <pukey> wait he can still see your answer <pukey> he is mentally connected <Adonis> lol <Adonis> sup pukey <pukey> tierd <pukey> going to bed <pukey> the psp hard drive units are in <pukey> the 4 GB ones <wlse_pro> anyone up? <DortoH> sure <J2k^> any1 watching world serioues? <pukey> yews <pukey> I think that dude was safe <pukey> at first <pukey> and that pepsi commercial was racist <pukey> making lionel richie look like a bat <pukey> beastist <pukey> its like 4th grade <pukey> whenyou had your saxaphone <pukey> and you went up in front of the school and played God bless America <bootleg> where are exchange management tools for XP? I am trying to get the exchange tabs in ADUC on my workstation... <WrldBFree> bootleg on teh exchange cd <shake-> anyone up <shake-> ? <WrldBFree> ya <shake-> need help with migrating mailboxes <shake-> hav you ever migrate <WrldBFree> I dont have time for conversation <WrldBFree> later <DortoH> sup shake- <shake-> nothign <shake-> trying tomigrate mailboxes <DortoH> what about mailbox migration? <shake-> to new server <shake-> having trouble on what option to do <DortoH> and... <DortoH> you got both servers up and running in the same exchagne org <shake-> one step, two step <shake-> yes <DortoH> what do you mean one step two step? are you trying to use exmerge? <shake-> no when at the knowledge base it gave me One-step migrations vs. two-step migrations <shake-> first time doing this so going in blind <DortoH> well if you have the new server installed in the same org, follow http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917 <shake-> trying to migrate exchange 2k to new server running exchange 2k <DortoH> that will get the PF and other stuff replicated <DortoH> then follow http://thelazyadmin.com/index.php?/archives/75-Moving-Mailboxes.html to move the mailboxes <shake-> see the domain is under small business which only supports one dc <DortoH> well SBS is a whole different story <DortoH> btw SBS does support multiple DCs <DortoH> the other DCs have to run the "normal" versions of windows <shake-> ok <DortoH> but SBS is a whole other beast that requires a whole lot of other crap to migrate <shake-> now is it possible to just do it this way on that site you gave me thelazyadmin.com <shake-> can't anything ever go smooth? <DortoH> http://www.sbsmigration.com/ <shake-> lol <DortoH> not with SBS <DortoH> ****ty Business Server <shake-> well i am going to mess around with it i will probably be back <shake-> thanks for your help <DortoH> np <Whitor> hi <Rizar_d> Any of you guys use fax servers that intergrate with exchange? <DortoH> used to use GFI faxmaker <J2k^^> what do you use now DortoH? <DortoH> heh fax machines <Phoenix--> anyone here? <J2k^^> any1 see what's i'm typing? <Phoenix--> J2k^, I see it but I think I'm the only one awake and I (apparently) know nothing about exchange <J2k^^> problem? <Phoenix--> I'm trying to bring up exchange 2003, move everything from exchange 2000, and get rid of the old server. E2k3 is running but giving me a lot of errors. <J2k^^> so migrate from 2k to 2k3? <J2k^^> did you follow any guide? <Phoenix--> We only have one license for e2k3 and we want it on the new server we just got. <Phoenix--> yes <Phoenix--> i *think* the root of my issues are with the dns/wins servers but not sure. <J2k^^> can you email in and out? <Phoenix--> yes, when the e2k3 servers stays up but it doesn't always start and sometimes it just crashes. here are some of the errors; <Phoenix--> LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory MAURY.navy.tamu.edu for distinguished name ''. Directory returned error:[0x51] Server Down. <Phoenix--> The MAD Monitoring thread was unable to read its configuration from the DS, error '0x80004005'. <Phoenix--> Process MAD.EXE (PID=3428). All Domain Controller Servers in use are not responding: <Phoenix--> nrotc00.navy.tamu.edu <Phoenix--> MAURY.navy.tamu.edu <Phoenix--> Process MAD.EXE (PID=3428). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not responding: <nef-w> phoenix: thats an easy error <J2k^^> aohrmmm <Phoenix--> But I can ping both Dcs <J2k^^> did you enable GC on the DC? <nef-w> you have connectivity issues between exchange and the dc/gc <nef-w> how many dc/gc's do you see on the dsaccess tab? <nef-w> remember we could be connecting to ANY of these <Phoenix--> J2k^, yes, GC is enabled on the existing DC (nrotc00) and I turned it on Sat night on the new DC (maury) <Phoenix--> nef-w, where is this tab? Ultimately, nrotc00 is going to get demoted and maury will be the only dc/gc. <J2k^^> nef would be able to help you <J2k^^> :) <nef-w> its on the props of the server <Phoenix--> thx <nef-w> when dsaccess gets called, it goes through that list to find out what servers it can connect to <nef-w> and every time we make an ldap connection, we pick one from that list <nef-w> so every server in that list, needs to be available <Phoenix--> both nrotc00 and maury are available and can be pinged from the new exchange server <Phoenix--> (I checked RUS to ensure it was pointing at maury but it can't find it) <nef-w> it has nothing to do with the rus <Phoenix--> k <nef-w> http://tinyurl.com/b4zn9 <Phoenix--> where is this dsaccess tab? <nef-w> on the properties of the server <Phoenix--> k <Phoenix--> ok, lemme go check - bbiab <Phoenix--> nef-w, you there? <nef-w> yes <Phoenix--> both computers show up as dc and gc but only nrotc00 (the one I ultimately want to demote) is a configuration server. <nef-w> 2k3 is having a lot of problems talking to thos edc/gc's <nef-w> ping isnt your ownly resouce you need to look into ports and firewalls inbetween <Phoenix--> There's nothing in between except MS firewall that comes on win2k3. <Phoenix--> The computers are all next to each other connected to the same wall outlet of ethernet jacks. <nef-w> umm <nef-w> wtf are you using the w2k3 firewall for? <nef-w> heh <nef-w> turn that off <Phoenix--> ok <Phoenix--> anything else? <nef-w> turn it off o both sides <nef-w> if its on <Phoenix--> k <nef-w> none of your internal servers should have software firewalls on <Phoenix--> We're connected to a university network whichis full of viruses and whatnot <nef-w> yeah, but you dont firewall unless you know what ports to allow through <nef-w> obviously the dc/gc ports arent open <Phoenix--> k, i'll try that and see what happens <SBrick98> hey nef... u remember which port SQL uses (that slammer made its *****)? <nef-w> 1433 sounds farmiliar <nef-w> something like that <SBrick98> SQL uses 1433 and 1434 <nef-w> yeah <SBrick98> 33 for "SQL Server" and 34 for "SQL monitor" <SBrick98> according to IANA <nef-w> 1433 is the tds port <SBrick98> don't remember which is (more) vulnerable <nef-w> so yeah
