<Linus--> they are the worst kind of scum <Linus--> usary rates <tortus> you can't kite checks anymore. <Linus--> good <KoBushi> Linus-- a credtior called m last month and claimed I still owed them $700 <Linus--> I'm all about cash and checking card <KoBushi> I told them I didn't, and if they didn't leave me alone I was going to bill them fo the time it took me to prove them wrong. <Linus--> KoBushi, tell them to never call again <Linus--> and they can't <KoBushi> So I sent them a letter with my proof, along with a $700 bill for $70/hr <Linus--> i was getting har***ing calls for months <Linus--> lol <KoBushi> The haven't gotten back with me <Linus--> cool <KoBushi> once it hits 30 days I'm ging to take them to court <Linus--> i have one cc left, with like 7k balance <Linus--> they raised my rate from 9.99% to 19>99% when i had problems with my other cards <bud``> another option is renting out rooms.. my home has 3 bedrooms, I could get $250 for the small front bedroom, and $350 for the larger back bedroom. THis brings me $600/month income, and my mortgage is only $500, so I'm actually making a gain, and still licing in the master bedroom =D <Linus--> ive paid them loyally for 25 years, and they refuse to lower my rate <Linus--> once they raise it, they never lower it again <bud``> licing=living <Linus--> so i am thinking of calling and saying, listen, my credit is already screwed, either loower the rate or I'm defaulting <bud``> theres just no excuse for losing a home <Linus--> bud``, this was a condo with a tiny 2nd bedroom <Linus--> meant for small kids at best <Linus--> i couldnt rent it really <Linus--> it was like 6x9 maybe <Linus--> that's like a closety <Linus--> -y <Lotec> Sounds like a cell <Linus--> i called this cc co. and asked to speak to a supervisor about my rate and they refused <bud``> so rent the whole place out, rather than lose it and ding your credit for life <bud``> let other ppl pay your mortgage and build your equity <Lotec> Linus, did you ask for the name of the person who refused? <Today> Linus--, get a card with a lower rate from another company and pay off the higher interest card with the lower interest card <Linus--> bud``, the thing was, though i "missed" three payments, i did pay them the third month, one day late <CometBaby> Dean and the Democratic party has spoken! Don't need no damn judge, unless he is BIASED. <L0c0> Eliza21 sending an Onjoin <CometBaby> Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean is urging Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald to bring indictments in the Valerie Plame Leakgate case, saying he won't accept any other result. <CometBaby> how is that for fair? <bud``> linus well 91 days is too much <Linus--> i didn't know they were even moving to foreclose until last minute <Linus--> it was 30 <Linus--> oh, for notice its 30 <TheTailor> Who is Dean to 'accept' anything? <arcade> CometBaby: Hm? Isn't an indictment .. a court case? <Linus--> bud``, if it was too much, why did they have no problem accepting that payment? <arcade> CometBaby: That is, won't an indictment lead to a court case? And isn't that *exactly* what is needed? <bud``> 1 month is ok, 2 months = the bank better believe you have a plan, 3 = sorry <Linus--> they take the payment and claim i violated the terms <Linus--> if i did, they shouldnt consummate that part of the deal by accepting it <CometBaby> arcade .. an order to indict is "exactly what is needed"? <Lup|ne> arcade: given that she was not a "covert operative", its all a fishing expedition <Lup|ne> maybe they'll get someone on a subsequent testionial problem, perjury or something. but that is secondary to the origional claims <Linus--> doesnt acceptance of a payment imply coninuity of contract? <CometBaby> what the heck! <Linus--> continuity <bud``> Linus-- no <Lup|ne> CB: I want to know if it is "so horrible".. why Novak isn't being charged as well <arcade> CometBaby / Lup|ne : Well, isn't all that up to the courts to decide, and not public opinion? <CometBaby> so chairman of an opposing party should be allowed to DEMAND that the prosecutor indict? I mean why bother with the law. Let's just let Dean decide everything huh? <bud``> once you default you default, and other terms kick in <Linus--> if their claim is you broke the contract, then they should no longer be accepting the payments as outlined in the contract <Lup|ne> arcade: not in our system. First it is the grand jury to decide. <Linus--> they take you to court <Lup|ne> here in florida, foreclosure takes along time. <Linus--> they should have said, we can't take this payment, the contract is null <Null_Ptr> linus-- they weren't taking your 3rd payment 1 day late, they were taking your 1st payment 91 days late <Lup|ne> and usually, the mortgagee has the ability to "make amends" to prevent foreclosure <CometBaby> Linus look. I don't hold it against anyone if they get into financial difficulties and have to default or file bankruptcy. But don't tell me you didn't know. Don't tell us that you never saw it coming. That you were just whistling down the street and some sneaky person slipped in and foreclosed on you. <bud``> a debtor is fully obliged to take any money you throw them no matter what <CometBaby> accept your share of the responsibility, please. <Null_Ptr> bud`` you mean creditor not debtor <Lup|ne> CB: but it is wrong ot expect an individual citizen to accept the consequencies of his actions, it is the govn't who is ultimately responsible <bud``> you defaulted after the initial 30 days... they can take payments from you, and take the home, and screw your credit <Linus--> CometBaby, whatever <Linus--> you have no idea what i tried to do to make good on it <Lup|ne> hahaha "whatever" = I can't find fault with CB's arguement <Linus--> they were the unwilling party <CometBaby> heh <Linus--> all i wanted was a 5 year extension in refinancing <Linus--> to bring doiwn my payments about 120.mo <bud``> all they wanted was for you to live up to your word <Lup|ne> so you lost your home over $120/month? <Linus--> and they hung up on me <Lup|ne> wow <Linus--> lup, when you're broke you're broke <Linus--> and i was that <TheTailor> Why didn't you find another lender? <Linus--> never had i ever been in that position <Lup|ne> if yer broke, then refinancing for lower payments wouldn't have done any good, no? <Linus--> had already cashd out and spent my retiremnt on the mortgage <TheTailor> eww <Linus--> it would have allowed me to live from check to check <CometBaby> Linus .. you ran up the bill. You knew what your payments were. They are not obligated to accomodate you. If you were serious about this you would have found a credit counselor. They are free from the almighty govt. But you wanted to be in control, and that's what it got you. <Linus--> i had no source for borrowing <bud``> if I was you, I would have rented the place out, found a friend or family member to take me in for a few months, got an extra job and combined the rental income with my additional work income and got out of that mess <TheTailor> Well, that's the breaks, time to do something else. <CryArvach> time to moonlight Linus <Lup|ne> Hell, I'ld be selling items before defaulting on a mortgage. <CryArvach> sell the blanket and rpm's at auction <Linus--> the empathy is overwhelming! <Linus--> Lup|ne, sell what, my used hyundai? <CryArvach> Linus..I have been where you are and did that...I learned some harsh lessons <Lup|ne> linus: it's not like you were in a coma for 3 months, unable to do anything <CometBaby> Linus .. we can only listen to so much. Like I said .. it can happen to anyone. But the problem I have with you, is you fail to see your own culpability. You want sympathy. <Lup|ne> linus: well, how much do you pay in insurance? You could have stopped driving, and stopped your insurance <bud``> Linus-- theres just no excuse.. what were the other circumstances surrounding your default? a divorce? injury? lawsuit? <Abydos313> there would be 20 people sleeping on couch , floor..etc before i gave up the house myself <CryArvach> there you go...roommates :P <Linus--> Lup|ne, i was distracted by this routing number issue with the credit checking company, and how it dominoed onto all my other credit accts <Linus--> that was a doozy <CryArvach> or sell Meth <Lup|ne> "distracted"? bwhahaha <CometBaby> Linus you would do better to say .. listen I screwed up. I made a huge mistake and ran up bills I could not pay. I tried to work it out but I waited too long. The bottom fell out. I learned my lesson and it won't happen again. <Linus--> it essentially took me from perfect credit score to hell within a month <Linus--> i didn't screw up <Linus--> i was paying my mortgage til then <Lup|ne> yea, YOU didn't screw up.. *rolls eyes* <CometBaby> well there you go <Linus--> i was getting into more debt soing so, but at least i had credit wortthiness to do so <CometBaby> linus everyone pays mortgage .. or rent. Do you think you were unique? <Linus--> the bad check took that ***et away <KoBushi> Linus-- if you were paying credit debt with other credit, that WAS you screwing up <Linus--> KoBushi, it was survival <Linus--> as if americans don't do that all the time <BigBrothe> it's all Bush's fault <CometBaby> *sigh* .. everyone is wrong but me syndrome <BigBrothe> CB: Yep. <Linus--> how can i have been wrong when a company doesnt tell me to destroy old checks? <KoBushi> Linus-- they do do it all the time... americans also are screwing up all the time by doing it... unless they are transfering to lower interest <Linus--> and that fact alone collapsed my credit rating? <Lupine> linus: you used the checks, the responsibility to ensure they are "good" is yours. <Linus--> what? <KoBushi> how old were these checks? <Lupine> that is another life's lesson you should learn. <TheTailor> I lost half a million once by allowing someone else to put money elsewhere than to the IRS where it belonged. Bottom line, *I* ****ed up by allowing it. <Linus--> if you order new checks from your bank, and your old ones are no longer good, isn't it the banks job to warn you? <Lupine> Kob: alot of the ones I've seen are good for only a month or so <Linus--> how would anyone know if a banmk changes routing numbers? <TheTailor> Lost the business. <Linus--> yours could tomorrow <Linus--> shouldnt you be notified? <Lupine> linus: Uh, legally they give written warning. You probably didn't notice it. <bud``> buying a home is a privelage, not a right. If you cant live up to it, then dont rely on EVERYONE else to prop you up <Abydos313> order checks. you 'll get your current routing number <Linus--> i had all the docs they sent me <Linus--> there was no notice
