<RustyFord> i hated it when Charlotte left the story
<hans_kung> actually NAXOS has the biggest library I think for audio books by a major record label.

<hans_kung> Heh, friend of mine sells old autographs and wierd manuscripts. After he sells it, he then tells me about a Papal Indulgence from 1609 and sent me a PDF of it. I almost cried. He sold it for 350 bucks. :(
<RustyFord> to get it restored is more money than its actualy worth
<RustyFord> heh
<CryArvach> they can keep what tunes they play...they are fine
<CryArvach> what pope
<CryArvach> if its from the Borgia one....
<hans_kung> Cry-- I honestly forget...but the manuscript was just beautiful...the calligraphy was unreal and the seals were attached, huge. the document was prolly 3 feet by 3 feet?
<RustyFord> Cry, yeap, the history says that the arabs "gave the brits" bagpipes as a 2 fold joke, 1, so they could hear them coming in war, and 2, so they could laugh after they defeated their armies
<RustyFord> hehehe
<RustyFord> Cry, heheh the brits used to use the bagpipes in america to cover up the marching sounds of their troops
<bmc> they didnt hear the bagpipes?
<RustyFord> you could tell the difference of the size of army and their professionalism by listening to the sound of their boot heals hitting the ground
<Timur-> the Arabs didn't give the Brits bagpipes
<RustyFord> to cover up the sound, they blew bag pipes and used drums
<RustyFord> Timur its not known for certain
<bmc> but then you hear bagpipes and drums
<bmc> and know soliders are coming
<bmc> :P
<RustyFord> no one knows where bagpipes comes from
<bmc> well it would be abnormal to hear bagpipes off in the distance im ***uming
<RustyFord> historians say "most likely" they came from arabs
<hans_kung> bagpipes were used in music in Europe right up to the baroque. Wonder why they didn't make it to the orchestra.
<RustyFord> Timur, i wondered at this as well....
<RustyFord> because you don't see any arab countries that use bag pipes
<RustyFord> although!
<RustyFord> there are pictures from the panshir region of pakistan=)
<RustyFord> an instrument there they used to play resembles some of that region
<RustyFord> sorry i am wrong
<Timur-> interesting
<RustyFord> there are a couple of arab countries that use bag pipes
<RustyFord> deep in arabia like UAE
<hans_kung> Spain too
<Timur-> one wonders if the use in the Panjshir antedates that in the UK
<hans_kung> Galiclia area
<RustyFord> but no one is sure if they were introduced by brits
<RustyFord> or if they got their start there
