<Katey> Obviously the university had to give first dibs to the uni students <gopp> tweek dam lucky ***, most kid are taking precal or pre cal cal based course <Katey> but often you could find a space <tweek> Katey: my school district had some lame regulation that stated that students couldn't take more than two college courses a term. <gopp> before they even make to cal <tweek> I somehow got around that. <gopp> tweek you did how <Katey> tweek, well, I went to a weird school. <tweek> yeah, my brother's in Algebra II now, and a junior. <tweek> or, mebbe not even that. <gopp> Katey did the student have to pay for that <Katey> tweek, however, that regulation might have also been in place there. I can't recall <tweek> Algebra I, probably. <Katey> gopp, no <gopp> free college course <gopp> wtf that great <tweek> gopp: **** no. my parents paid for it. <gopp> tweek how did you get around it <tweek> as they paid for my private school tuition. <occ_> students in HS? <tweek> not ... sure. I guess they overlooked it. <Katey> yeah. it was a terrific opportunity <Katey> occ_, yeah <gopp> and how did the school have a teacher follow you to college <tweek> or mebbe it only applied to certain p... no, it applied to the school credit they'd accept. <gopp> Katey did you take advantge it <Katey> gopp, yeah <gopp> Katey or only the honors student do it <Fearless> wow... <tweek> or something. they weren't that strict about it, whatever it was. <Fearless> overachievers eh <Katey> I took French....and I think I took an english cl*** <gopp> tweek but that don't even matter <gopp> tweek because the college credit counted for more <tweek> yeah :) <gopp> tweek if you could would the school allowed <Katey> gopp, no, anyone could do it if their homeroom teacher felt they could handle it <tweek> I mean, ****. I'm out of school in a year <Katey> now, you didn't get college credit <gopp> tweek if you could would they allowed 11th grade studetn to take colelge courses <tweek> **** yes I did. <tweek> over, like, 20 hours or so. <gopp> in 11thgrade <tweek> I currently have over 100 <gopp> you where in college <Katey> tweek, oh I don't mean you <Katey> I mean the students at my school <tweek> I think Yash took college courses at 11th grade <tweek> David might have too <gopp> Katey what college <gopp> who is yash <Katey> But, if you've taken the course you can test out of it and, in some cases, get credit anyway when you go to university <tweek> the two students that also took my Calc cl***es <tweek> yeah... they took Calc 1 in the spring <tweek> I took it in the summer <gopp> tweek was the teacher amazed <Katey> gopp, VCU, VUU, UofR (I think), and J.S. Reynolds community college <gopp> tweek you porbally did better then most freshman or juniors <gopp> in those courses <tweek> Dr. Roger Opp wouldn't be amazed :) <tweek> he's probably seen so many others do this **** <gopp> why not <tweek> I'm the only one that's still there <gopp> you where so young <gopp> oh yosh graduate <tweek> not exactly. I p***ed as a college student... <tweek> no, she went somewhere else. <gopp> I tought you got an A <tweek> I meant, p***ed. fit in. <tweek> looked like. <gopp> oh <gopp> hmm <tweek> my cs150 professor didn't know I was a Central kid until the final exam :) <gopp> tweek how did he find out <gopp> tweek did the have teacher following you around <Katey> What's the test you can take to test out of a cl*** and get credit for it? CLEP? <gopp> when you took college <gopp> Katey it clep <Katey> right <gopp> even if you never took it <gopp> you can clep <Katey> yeah <gopp> like if you know the stuff <tweek> told him after I left, to explain why I had to reschedule the exam time. thought he knew already. he didn't. <gopp> but it advised against <tweek> yeah, I also clepped outta English 101. <tweek> like, a year ago. goddamn that was so much easier than the AP exams... <gopp> tweek dam <tweek> painfully so. <tweek> and the worst part is? <gopp> but I tought you got ap english <tweek> I *STILL* have prereq's to take <tweek> AP Lit. <gopp> they didn't accept ap lit <tweek> I only got a 2 on my AP Composition course, because AP exams hurt your *brain*. <tweek> and it was the day after the AP Lit exam. <gopp> tweek why it hard <tweek> demanding, if anything. <tweek> plus, I'm ... hesistant ... when it comes to essay-based tests. <gopp> tweek what the earlyiest grade you can take college courses <gopp> tweek so you never took precal <tweek> like, just last week, I spent, like, 30 minutes on one question without knowing it for some AI cl***. <tweek> I couldn't see the clock, and had at least, like, three questions (out of about six) blank when I had to hand it in. <gopp> you can't take cal with out precal <occ_> precal is just like algenbra 2 <tweek> my junior year, I took some trig... or something. <tweek> I'm not sure what the hell it was. <gopp> in private school <tweek> yeah. <occ_> are you in HS, gopp? <tweek> tutored most of the football players that were there. <gopp> so the college accepted that <gopp> occ_ college <occ_> which year/ <tweek> the college only required that I take a proficency exam. <tweek> ****ing wasted it. <gopp> oh you took a college proficency exam <tweek> I don't think I've ever done better in any standardized test. <gopp> it was easy <tweek> *VERY*. <hans_kung> eh, I don't recommend taking Calculus during summer cl***es. Six week cl***..had to remember 120 formulas :/ <gopp> eayier then ap <tweek> *MUCH*. <gopp> hans_kung I droped <occ_> summer cl***es **** <tweek> 120 formulas...? <gopp> I took cal over the summer <gopp> had to drop it <occ_> six weeks if you're LUCKY <gopp> yea 6 week course <occ_> and calculus is a cl***ic "hard cl***" <occ_> at least, at the undergrad level <tweek> if you're having to remember any more than about 15 formulas for any cl***, you're looking at it all wrong. <tweek> weed-out. <tweek> they're called weed-out courses. <occ_> yup <gopp> what do you mean weed-out courses <tweek> stuff that only half of the cl*** gets through. <tweek> sometimes even less. <occ_> most "science 110" cl***es (ie, first-year science for science majors, versus the "101" cl*** for nonmajors) are weed-outs <occ_> either by design or not <tweek> the rest either drop out or change majors. <occ_> i start biology with like 100 kids <occ_> and yup, half dropped it <tweek> I guess some take 'em over. <redfish> occ <tweek> my sister mentioned that, like, 80% of the cl*** for some cl*** threw away their tests without writing anything ... <symbio> That's pretty crazy <tweek> my Physics 2 cl*** (oh, yeah, I took Physics 1 in HS too) ... ****. <tweek> one day, the professor was annoyed at low attendance
