<pqdb> I'd say it remarkably friendlier than I remember it
<Emil^> pqdb - well i pushed ya some :) but glad did - i hear were you're coming from now
<ggliddy> Fair enough. Thanks.
<pqdb> over in undernet it's a bunch of ppl workign off the limbaugh talking points... arrogance and all
<pqdb> hey anytime
<pqdb> you have to know something about me personally.. that I'm in a very conservative place
<pqdb> so no matter what ppl tag me as a "liberal" when I say not a single liberal thing
<pqdb> so.. heh
<pqdb> lots of times ppl put works in my mouth. and I end up saying "I said what?"
<ggliddy> The generation before mine is full of old people.
<pqdb> then there's the occasional baby boomer like Bob
<Emil^> well - i went through my entire - trade with cuba deal....and stop ****ing *** to maini cubans in prime time - only 3 people responded with vehnoment hate....i far more support me in channel or even in private to say - nice job debating
<pqdb> who thinks ppl like me have NO CLUE and are missing the point
<pqdb> I grew up in Miami
<pqdb> I have little to no comment
<Emil^> pqdb - hope i didnt' offend ya - this is one of those issues tho that equally piss of both parties
<pqdb> hell no
<pqdb> the ting about Cuba...
<pqdb> is..
<pqdb> the social reality always outweighs any political motive
<pqdb> it's like abortion, really
<pqdb> bring it up? ppl explode with opinion
<Emil^> the thing is.......if you dont support cuban exiles - you will loose cuba and all of it's elecotral votes (from a national perspective)
<pqdb> violently
<Emil^> yeah
<Emil^> abortion tho i dont touch
<Emil^> it's devicive
<Emil^> cuba tho - well most americans want to trade with cuba, even visit there
<pqdb> I only mention it to prove the pojnt it only exists to get church ppl to vote
<Emil^> the only americans which hate cuba - are well the miami cubans
<pqdb> heh yeah well
<pqdb> the situation won't chaneg until Castro dies
<Emil^> well that and the die die die hard righting
<pqdb> of course Chavez is now Castro's new best friend
<pqdb> which makes it even more difficult ot soften up our cuba policy
<Emil^> yep and until then - you can take the most ardent capitist freetrade guy - and he'll spit in your face if you support trade with cuba
<pqdb> it's an impossibel situation
<Emil^> the governer of illinois visited there 5 years back with about a dozen major local agricultural ceo's......
<pqdb> it only proves the cold war's absuridity
<Emil^> cuba is openly courting trade with illinois
<Emil^> but the most die hard capitalists - when you share this...wow - it's weird ehh
<Emil^> ?
<pqdb> SC has a trade office in CHina
<pqdb> alarmign when you consider the entrie textiel industry has left the state
<pqdb> textile
<Emil^> china is a unique situation as well....
<pqdb> I'm stiill annoyed and confused about why bob claimed I was simplifying politcs to the poitn of absurdity
<pqdb> I think he missed my point with hsi own arrogance
<ggliddy> When it comes to American foreign policy, every country is unique, hm?
<Emil^> perhaps....i got your point.......hmm forget my response but i thought it apt
<Emil^> ggliddy - hehe of course! same the world over
<Emil^> ggliddy - dont get me wrong tho - american foreign policy lol - that is a can of worms
<pqdb> the memory of the cold war remains thru bad habits
<ggliddy> I've been called an isolationist in that regard.
<Emil^> pqdb - i was young then...........but grew up in that as well
<pqdb> I'm old enough to remember "duck and cover"
<Emil^> ggliddy - well if you are an american - youv'e been called everything in the book and nothign you can ever do will change that
<pqdb> I might be the last generation to remember the cold war
<ggliddy> "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none."
<pqdb> might be [in] the last generation
<pqdb> to recall the codl war
<pqdb> hey, consider that ppl born after 1990 don't know a world without cellphones
<Emil^> i was born in 76...so only truely recall the last stages - the berlin wall i remember very clearly, even have a peice of it :)
<Emil^> october of 87 was that?
<pqdb> 89
<Emil^> damn...new it was 87 or 89 :)
<ggliddy> Emil^: I don't mind being called names. It reveals nothing about me, but it does reveal something about the person doing the name calling.
<Emil^> still remember the news and such
<ggliddy> And sometimes that kind of information is useful.
<Emil^> ggliddy - true that....where are you from G?
<pqdb> I remmebr things like the Iranian hostage crisis
<pqdb> and the second OPEC shocks
<ggliddy> I grew up in California.
<ggliddy> You?
<Emil^> grew up in illinois here G
<pqdb> I spent the 70's in Miami and the 80's in Atlanta
<ggliddy> It's cold there, as I understand it.
<pqdb> Illinois is both hot and cold
<Emil^> i remember when i was in 3rd grade the shuttle blowing up - i was watching that live - that is prolly my earliest 'political' (well pseudo) memory
<Emil^> P - yep feezing in the winter, and crazy humid in teh summer
<ggliddy> The only time I've been there is to a wedding. Chicago in November.
<Emil^> the best time to visit illinois i september-november
<Emil^> we have brilliant autumns
<Emil^> is*
<CometBaby> Chicago is a fascinating city .. but it is windy as they say .. and it is a brutally cold wind that blows in off the lake.
<CometBaby> but I was born and raised in Denver
<Emil^> i love visiting chicago....but would hate to live there
<ggliddy> Southern California weather report: "Early to midmorning low clouds, clearing by midday. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s."
<CometBaby> me to
<Emil^> now colorado :)) that is place to live now - espically denver - major growing job-market
<pqdb> nice talking, ttyl
<ggliddy> Same here. I need a little sleep. Be well, everyone.
<CometBaby> emil .. heh .. when you think of denver don't just think of the mountains and all the natural beauty. Think of any BIG city with it's problems.
<Emil^> peace Pqdb
<pqdb> byebye
<Emil^> cometbaby - any city that grows that fast has 1 set of problems....understood - now add that to rest...i can imagine...but still the place to move too
<Emil^> not to offend your hometown - but i see des moines as a denver 30 years ago
<CometBaby> expensive there
<CometBaby> Des Moines?
<CometBaby> hahaha
<CometBaby> what do they have?
<Emil^> yeah - they're growing faster than they can handle
<Emil^> it's one of the top 10 fastest growing cities in teh us along side with denver
<CometBaby> They don't have skiing .. they don't have mountains .. they don't have rivers and streams. They don't have ****.
<Emil^> they have jobs...and a **** load of growth
<CometBaby> emil .. I live 3 hours from Des Moines .. its nothing.
<CometBaby> its just as bad as omaha
<Emil^> cometbaby - i've been spending a lot of time there, my bro-and sis-in-law just moved there 6 months back
<Emil^> example....if you want to get your roofed fixed or a fence installed? be prepared to wait 6 weeks min.
<Emil^> it's growing crazy fast...and there are a ton of jobs....
<CometBaby> well, I'm sorry emil .. maybe you are taken with it. But to compare it to Denver is a hoot. Denver has a LOT to offer in the way of things to do. Des Moines has nothing to offer in that respect.
<Emil^> nooo - i mean yes, you're right
<Emil^> denver is very very different in soo many respects...i'm more talking about the uniqueness in living in a rapidly growing city
<CometBaby> Denver grows more in two months than Des Moines does in one year
<Emil^> that's seems slighly high - but overall yeah....they each grow percente-wise at the same basis there abouts
<CometBaby> I'll tell you one thing about Denver it is gorgeous. Everywhere you are you can see the mountains.
<Emil^> denver is in the millions, desmoines is like what 500,000 only?
<CometBaby> is des moines that high? lol
<Emil^> i need to find my source.......you would find it interested to see the fastest growing cities
<Emil^> iowa is only 3 million, and yea it 'i think' i'm gonna look that up now tho
<CometBaby> emil .. we are not moving. We like it here .. it is safe and quiet.
<Emil^> hehe - i wouldn't expect ya too
<Lotec> Hi, Comet
<CometBaby> hey lotec :))
<Lotec> You up early or late?
<CometBaby> dog woke me up
<CometBaby> lol
<CometBaby> wanted to check on the channel
<CometBaby> ticks me off .. my husband never wakes up when she is whining to go outside :(
<Emil^> damn...i gave a very wrong stat (blush)
<CometBaby> I'm always the one who gets up with her
<Lotec> Why should he if you always do?
<CometBaby> lol
<Emil^> comet - it's 200,000 only...
<Emil^> still wanna find those growth %'s from this year tho
<CometBaby> emil thats more like it. When you said 500,000 I was VERY surprised and thought that was pretty high
<Emil^> comet - it's his turn to take teh dog out??
<CometBaby> well we don't take her out .. we let her out.
<CometBaby> lol
<CometBaby> she has a big back yard and it's all fenced.
<Lotec> I like my dog, but she doesn't come in the house
<CometBaby> well mine is a brat
<CometBaby> she sleeps in our bed with us
<Emil^> more of a cat person myself - tho partial to my dad collie
<Lotec> Mine's a Chow. She sheds all year
<Emil^> ahh - that is awesome comet - you'de really get along with my bro&his wife - they have 2 mutts..do the same
<CometBaby> When we got her the first thing my husband said to me was, "Now let me make something perfectly clear to you right now, so there are no misunderstandings. That dog is NOT going to sleep in MY bed!"
<Lotec> 'course she's never seen snow and if we had any she could go in the shop
<CometBaby> well, guess what ? :)
<Emil^> cometbaby - i'm all about spoiling pets
