<Noboru> msa1119, not at all
<msa1119> ah
<Noboru> msa1119, but if a communist here ask me that,i would say 'yea' you know what i mean
<Noboru> so it depends
<msa1119> hehe
<Lotec> political discussion can be dangerous for some
<Noboru> There are many cyber agency in yahoo, i found
<Emil^> i would love to visit china......soo much awesome history and archelogy
<Noboru> Lotec, true
<Noboru> They send some people to yahoo chat rooms
<Emil^> isn't china geographically even larger than the us? (or there abouts) and damn the histoory
<Noboru> There they monitor in the chat
<Noboru> Emil^, obsolutely
<YYZ> china is bigger than the US, but smaller than Canada
<msa1119> they don't let chinese surf all of the internet..
<msa1119> it's sort of controlled
<Noboru> Emil^, China is 9,600,000 sq. meters, US. is 9,300,000 sq. meters
<Emil^> the history goes back sooo far in china
<Emil^> noboru :) i was right - i thought it was close
<Noboru> Emil^, US. is ranked the 3rd largest country while china is on the 2nd place
<Noboru> oops
<YYZ> china is 3rd
<Noboru> US. is on the 4th, china is on the 3th
<Noboru> yeah
<YYZ> Russia, then Canada, then China
<Emil^> that makes sense, behind russia then canada
<Emil^> yep yep
<Noboru> yeah
<YYZ> Brazil is 5th
<msa1119> how in the heck did you guys make yao ming so tall
<Noboru> msa1119, I read a report, Yao ming was made from the lab lol
<msa1119> yeah i heard that
<Emil^> politics aside - historically and archeologically china is such a rich country
<Noboru> msa1119, No idea
<Emil^> heh - just watching history channel alone - it's amazing how many things were invented there
<pymp-top> yall know the U.S is ranked like 10th in freedom of speech
<Emil^> pymp- i though we were ranked 50th?
<Lotec> pymp, by whose ranking?
<YYZ> how do you get ranked 10th in freedom of speech?
<Emil^> i just read an article on that - it was UN based i think
<msa1119> freedom of speech? most americans only care what's on tv.. they don't care about freedom
<pymp-top> well we move around from year to year
<pymp-top> not sure what were at now
<Emil^> pymp - the cnn/abc/msnbc etc..they didn't report this, but bbc did - check the arcives back 2 weeks
<YYZ> 10th based on what criteria?
<Emil^> and i really do think were like like ranked 50th...tho the terms of 'free speech' were subjective
<Emil^> err i will
<Noboru> US. is a great country
<YYZ> what are the top 9 countries?
<YYZ> in free speech?
<Lotec> pymp, we are pretty free to say what we want as long as it isn't Christian or un-PC stuff. If we got rid if the libs, we could say what we want
<Emil^> gimmea sec yyz
<msa1119> again, i think freedom of speech is that last thing on the list of what americans are into.. they'd rather care about what's on tv
<Noboru> US. has more freedom
<msa1119> americans take that for granted
<Noboru> I admire that USA has a good system to anti-corruption and etc
<msa1119> lol no we don't
<Emil^> well no offense - but yes
<Noboru> no ?
<msa1119> corruption gets one promoted
<Emil^> comparitvily we do have freedoms
<YYZ> people take the relative lack of corruption for granted
<Noboru> But if one does ,you can vote them off
<Lotec> Everyone has corruption. Some address it well
<msa1119> power corrupts
<Emil^> hell didn't the law in china p*** where you cant even play an online game for me than 3 hours?
<msa1119> absolute power corrupts absolutely
<Noboru> Emil^, why everyone is talking about that now ? yes
<Noboru> That is a stupid law
<Emil^> noboru - cuz i'm one of those nerdy online gamers i guess
<Noboru> In that law - You can only play online games in 5 hours, if more than that, all of your scores you have obtained before will be automatically reset to Zero
<msa1119> if you're playng video games for 5 hours.. you need to lose your freedom
<Emil^> noboru - from what i understand at least in WoW people are getting around that by switching characters
<Noboru> You play online games more than 3 hours, from each poin you gain in the game you will get a system prompt to notidy you that the time will be up,in the meantime, your score will be reduce to half of what it should be from then on till the time is up
<Emil^> noboru - sorry that is world of warcraft, the only game i really follow
<Noboru> poin -> point
<Noboru> Emil^, I didnt hold my breath for hearing that law actually
<Noboru> because ...before that law was out, there was another law was out before that that was - every website needs to subscribe to the government including your I.D. card, contact phone ,address etc
<Emil^> noboru - it's well meaning i'm sure.......americans could liken it perhaps seatbelt or helment laws, non-smoking bars, not using cell phones in cars.......
<Noboru> Emil^, They canceled all games TV channels
<Emil^> noboru - well meaning (i would hope) but in execution - pathetic
<Noboru> There was a good games Channel on CCTV ,CCTV the official government controled tv channel over china
<Noboru> but, then they released a Law that any game channel on TV will be banned
<Noboru> see ?
<Emil^> noboru - china is not a culture to which i would be welcomed i'm sure with my thoughts on personal freedoms
<msa1119> proxy
<Emil^> i still would love to tour china...do some backpacking, bikeriding
<Noboru> Emil^, we do not have laws to avoid smoking in public areas,in most areas we are allowed to smoke freely
<Noboru> Emil^, No, if you do like play games, here is not good for you
<Emil^> noboru - i voulenteer with incoming exchange students to illinois........and one thing that i find kinda strange is peopel are told america is 'the land of the free' but we have more rules and regulations than they ever had at home
<Noboru> Any games that include the scenarioes which seem to be bad to the china govenment are banned here
<YYZ> Noboru, can you play poker on the internet all day?
<Noboru> such like, terrorists has Tian'an men under control ,and special forces go there to secure,no,this type of games are banned here,i saw that report
<Emil^> noboru - are you actually in china now?
<Emil^> noboru and talking on this channel?
<Noboru> YYZ, i do not play games really, but i have Only played Counter-strike for a while.
<Emil^> noboru - if so i really dont want you to get in trouble
<Noboru> yes, talking from szechuwan, china
<msa1119> there's a dish named szechuwan chicken
<Emil^> noboru - and if there is subversive chatter going on anywhere in efnet - you picked a channel which is likely to be sparked with that from time to time
<Noboru> Emil^, check my whois , chinese internet users dont have their DNS reverse-resolved,we are from china
<Noboru> Emil^, i will notice what i say ,thanks
<Noboru> Emil^, we can play the words games ...rather than speak it out instantly, then, i wouldnt break their laws over here :)
<Emil^> i tend to respect china - despite how much the U.S. may disagree....it's pretty much a given you're gonna be the next super power
<Emil^> i mean - i'm not say i would want a red gov't here
<Noboru> super power ?
<Noboru> i don't think so
<Emil^> nob - take boeing as an example
<Emil^> 2 examples only - i'm talking airplane wings.......in seattle workers make 26$ and hour plus full benefits........for teh exact same product workers in china make $60 a week with benefits undheard of
<Noboru> China at least will have to fix the big gap between the rural areas and the cities, and, fix the problems in social welfare/insurance etc
<Emil^> (yes this stat is about 5 or 6 years old)
<Noboru> You meant buy boening ? that was pure business
<Emil^> china has labor, endless labor - and education
<YYZ> im not sure the chinese have a very rich history of international relations
<Noboru> You know how hard china could have such a large reserved exchange rate from ?
<Emil^> noboru - you buy it back - for now........but you can produce 'quality' at such a cheaper cost the u.s. can't keep up
<Noboru> we all know that.
<Noboru> No,they cannot
<Noboru> look at that car manufactures
<Emil^> noboru - look at car manufacturing in the U.S. just 20 years ago
<Noboru> It's different
<Emil^> noboru - is it?
<Noboru> China is lacking of "creative"
<Noboru> it is different,i meant it
<Emil^> noboru - granted teh us is lucky, well and skilled
<Noboru> Emil^, or, look at the DVD-players
<Noboru> who owns the kernel technologies of a DVD-player while China has become the biggest country to export DVD-players ?
<Emil^> china is spuring it's own technological revlultion now tho - look at the interest in space alone
<Lotec> I read China may develop their own DVD standard
<msa1119> even the us flags are made in china
<Noboru> That was just another example, so not mention build a boening such a high-tech product
<Emil^> noboru - it was just the airplane wings i was speaking of, but today.....
<Noboru> Lotec, they will not win,i really think so
<Noboru> Lotec, yeah, china is developing her own 3G technology for moible phones
<Emil^> china can make airplane wings at a single digit percentage of what we pay workers in seattle....this is complex work....
<Emil^> wings today, what tomorrow?
<Lotec> Noboru, they may only mean to have their own standard. They can control what goes on it easier that way. Movies from here that they don't like won't get on the Chinese DVDs
<Emil^> noboru - what is the chinese words for astronauts...torikanuts? or something
<Noboru> Lotec, China was trying to ban wireless on the laptops from the US from importing to china, what now ? still,it doesnt work
<Emil^> noboru - starts with a k i think
<Noboru> at that time, china wanted to build her own wireless standard
<Noboru> Emil^, Yeah, i heard that news too, china has participated in big plane manufacting
<Lotec> It seems like China wastes a lot of effort on keeping out bad ideas
<Emil^> lotec - well ya gotta but 1.3 billion people to work somehow i guess lol
<Noboru> The supoer is USA , only
<YYZ> Lotec, hence the lack of creativity
<Noboru> super power*
<Lotec> lol
<YYZ> the US is full of bad ideas
<Emil^> yyz - #1 - pat buchanan
<Emil^> yyz - #2 - michael moore
