<OcDoc> did you send a bill for the bullets to their families?
<Katey> Lupine, you should have been using your bazooka
<Lupine> OcDoc: naw, that was "pro bono" work
<Lupine> Tropical Storm Beta
<jhicks> Lupine has a bazooka?
<jhicks> fear
<OcDoc> Lupine does it with his "bono"
<Katey> What happened to Alpha?
<Lupine> jh: No, but I have two guns with grenade launchers
<jhicks> that'll do
<Katey> Lupine is pro Bono
<jhicks> Lupine likes U2
<Katey> fan club prez
<DeDannan> he likes Guns and Roses better
<Lupine> Only "old school".. right around Zooropa went downhill

<YYZ> Triumph
<DeDannan> compdoc, yep..word is that Dubya's gonna nominate his chauffeur next...
<OcDoc> we only really need 8 SC justices ... let it go
<jhicks> compdoc: I heard they were giving Sandra O'Conner life extension drugz
<compdoc> heh
<Exdeath> I want Priscilla Owen or Janise Rodgers Brown
<jhicks> Judge Judy
<DeDannan> I want Estes Kefauver
<compdoc> "not in the best interest of the country"
<DeDannan> yeah..Judy would be good too
<jhicks> Queen Latifah
<OcDoc> Judy Densch
<jhicks> er
<OcDoc> whatta DAme!
<DeDannan> I GOT IT! MS CLEO!!
<jhicks> HAHAHA
<jhicks> God, I wanted to kill Cleo
<DeDannan> jhicks, she knew
<jhicks> every 30 seconds another damn Cleo commercial
<DeDannan> she's like..psychic..remember?
<jhicks> DeDannan: she got rich in the stock market and quit working, right?
<PINCHAS> I hope everyone heard about Miers' withdrawal.
<Exdeath> Yes, I am thrilled
<jhicks> PINCHAS: That's just a nasty rumor
<PINCHAS> No.
<jhicks> yes, it is
<PINCHAS> It's on TV.
<OcDoc> now the left can criticize Bush for early withdrawal
<jhicks> they lie
<PINCHAS> Today Show lies?
<jhicks> yes
<OcDoc> they will say, "That Bush, doesn't stand by his friends"
<CamelToad> I heard it on AP news this morning (radio)
<Exdeath> Miers' asked the President to withdraw last night
<DeDannan> Lupine I ***ume thats a "gun" of some kind
<jhicks> CamelToad: AP is not a reliable source
<Exdeath> Liberals would complain if he stood with his friends, or with he stood against them, its how they are
<Exdeath> that doesn't really matter
<jhicks> Exdeath: you don't have to be liberal to hate bush!
<CamelToad> true dat. exdeath
<OcDoc> we refuse to elect anyone who isn't smack dab in the center, and then criticize them when they act like centrists
<DeDannan> "Substantial Penalty for Early Withdrawal"...says it right in the fine print...
<compdoc> she was great at marketing
<FreeTrade> Hey Oc!
<jhicks> OcDoc: that's right! :)
<PINCHAS> Hm. Ted Kennedy.
<jhicks> OcDoc: politicians make GREAT dartboards
<OcDoc> Hey Free!
<jhicks> ok, off to breakfast
<FreeTrade> This nominee may not of been the best, I dont the elitism of the Senate nor some critics, and I dont like the way the Democrats will try to frame this as a Republican only situation. They werent enthused about her either.
<OcDoc> Free: it was a no-lose situation for Democrats
<FreeTrade> I don't like the Elitism of the Senate and other talking heads I meant.
<jhicks> FreeTrade: me either
<OcDoc> Free: either way it went they could criticize Bush
<DeDannan> Minority Leader seemed to like her well enough..
<jhicks> egalitarians rule
<jhicks> not
<FreeTrade> OcDoc, True, but now they are going to get a fight with a true blue demonstrable conservative.
<FreeTrade> And he or she will p***.
<jhicks> FT that's right
<OcDoc> Free: heh, if the Dems had come right out and supported her ...
<jhicks> FreeTrade: let's hope they're conservative and not a statist authoritarian
<FreeTrade> The Democrats are going to wish they had not asked for priveliged information even though Republicans did to. To wit: Attorney Client privelage.
<Katey> If Bush is smart, he'll nominate another Roberts-ish conservative
<jhicks> I think I like Roberts
<jhicks> we'll see
<OcDoc> "Bush has to nominate someone we can support" .... "oops ... bush nominated someone we could support! run away ... run away"
<FreeTrade> I want a conservative Judicial nominee the same thing Americans want.
<jhicks> I didn't care for Reinquist and his police-state preferences
<FreeTrade> I do not want a rightwing ideologue on the court.
<jhicks> Outside the court I liked him though
<DeDannan> apparently some do...
<Katey> DeDannan, well, that's going to be the problem, I suspect
<FreeTrade> Roberts was an excellent choice as it appears, yet he hasnt written any opinions so maybe thats premature. But his stated views of the powers of the SC were very appropriate.
<Katey> I think that the people who have been waiting for a long time for a vocal, socially conservative nominee won't be pleased with even a Roberts type
<jhicks> Maybe he should appoint Robert Bork?
<OcDoc> "Bush has to nominate someone without a conservative record" ... "Ooops! Bush nominated someone without ANY record ... run away ... run away!"
<DeDannan> Katey, yep...and now that the idelogues have scored a "victory"..in their minds anyway...they'll be demanding a true believer
<Katey> DeDannan, I think that may be true
<jhicks> I agree
<TimothyW> Theodore Olsen is the only one I see that could be named.
<OcDoc> jhicks: too old
<jhicks> OcDoc: crap
<jhicks> Bork Bork Bork
<DeDannan> jhicks, authoritarian statist too :)
<FreeTrade> And there is a problem that in fact their is no General right to privacy in the constitution, it was invented and horribly applied to Roe v wade. The constitution in numerous places points out specific rights of privacy.. And perhals a small General right to privacy but its not a constitutional doctrine at all. It was taken to the Extreme.
<jhicks> DeDannan: yeah :)
<jhicks> He would fire Fitz thoug
<FreeTrade> The thing is the president will get the next nominee, whoever he chooses unless hes a bona fide extremist.
<FreeTrade> or she.
<DeDannan> yep..he has a track record of firing special prosecutors who become "inconvenient"
<jhicks> hehe
<FreeTrade> I dont like Bork. Many Lawyers on the left and right think he has a brilliant legal mind but I dont thing he would be a good justice.
<OcDoc> Martin Sheen for Supreme Court Justice
<TimothyW> Patrick Fitzgerald sounds great for a Replacement Nominee also.
<jhicks> me either, i was jokin
<jhicks> TimothyW: actually, I agree
<Katey> hehe
