<jhicks> that's hilarious
<FreeTrade> Same way that Reagan used Milton Friedman as an economic advisor/consultant.
<CometBaby> once again the "pajama clad" bloggers caught them
<FreeTrade> Though Reagan had a degree in economics himself.
<jhicks> Al Neuharth is a tool
<jhicks> www.condiriceisangry.com now has new material!
<FreeTrade> Well I hope Bush hurries and gets about to nominating another one. A lot of them today are turning it down because of the way the Democrats have perverted the judicial selection process.
<FreeTrade> Scalia said he would not accept a nomination today.
<MikeyD> hopefully it wont be some christian zealot
<MikeyD> or some other clueless RINO
<FreeTrade> Given the tenor of the court.
<jhicks> FreeTrade: I hate the dichotomy that american politics is.
<jhicks> spy vs spy
<FreeTrade> MikeyD, A persons personal religion makes no difference to me. What matters is their judicial philosophy.
<TheTailor> FreeTrade, well he may say that, but frankly I don't buy it.
<CometBaby> morning TT :)
<jhicks> There are more than two sides peoples!
<FreeTrade> Hicks, coming from a time when I remember Democrats were a lot more like conservatives. I havent seen much change in the Republican party other than the tent size has grown a lot, But I have seen a democratic party change a great deal.
<TheTailor> Mornin' Hotness!
<MikeyD> it used to make no difference to me until people started using their religious thinking to trample on other people
<trompe> Rice looks evil in both of those photos
<Katey> Why does Drudge's site always look so ****ty? Maybe it's just my browers.
<FreeTrade> I suspect thats because of the idealism and the influences of the 60s generation.
<L0c0> isn't it ironic that pressure from both sides arguing basically the same thing, lack of information on her background. ?
<jhicks> FreeTrade: destroyed from within, just like Nikita said
<MikeyD> al la, bushs proposed constitutional amendment to prevent homo***ual marriage
<jhicks> Katey: Drudge uses notepad to hand code html
<FreeTrade> Jhicks, a lot of good Democrats today are againt their party, vote against it often. People are becoming more Republican every year.
<trompe> and someone photoshopped Michele Malkin's byline photo so that one of her eyes looks really crooked
<MikeyD> as if we still had real republicans
<jhicks> FreeTrade: but i'm not too happy with the republicans, what MikeyD said
<MikeyD> theyre all clones of falwell as far as im concerned
<FreeTrade> There should be no homo***ual marraige and if the voters who should have the say are allowed to have their say their wont be, and Bushs one time threat (never acted on) to amend the constitution was I think a warning to judges, Do not go against the will of the people unless you have a solid foundation in law to do so.
<jhicks> MikeyD: not that honorable :)
<TheTailor> MikeyD, well you are wrong.
<FreeTrade> Well You want the Judge to rule the country like an oligarchy ?
<FreeTrade> I dont.
<MikeyD> actually, i dont see how gov has a say in marriage in the first place
<jhicks> MikeyD: and i put falwell on the same level as Jim Jones :)
<jhicks> hehe
<FreeTrade> I want the people to decide issues. The congress already voted on Gay marraige and they said no, and people like Kerry even came out against it.
<MikeyD> second, i want to know why homo***ual marriage has to be prevented in the first place. i dont see how 2 gay people getting married violates my right to life, liberty or freedom
<L0c0> next nominee will be this guy: http://media.putfile.com/wilson1
<jhicks> I would be in favor of banning marriage altogether :)
<FreeTrade> The courts overturning the legislative will of congress should only occur if there is a true constitutional foundation to do so and their clearly is nothing in the constitution pro or con about gay marraige, the constitution says congress shall make such laws.........
<jhicks> MikeyD: i think we agree
<jhicks> Pat Robertson too.
<FreeTrade> I dont think anyone in here likes Falwell particularly not even the christians. I could be wrong.
<MikeyD> yeah, him too
<FreeTrade> But these people represent the 3 popes of the protestant religion.
<CometBaby> actually falwell is not stupid like robertson. Someone needs to tell robertson to retire.
<jhicks> FreeTrade: self-appointed
<FreeTrade> Falwell AND the other two.
<FreeTrade> Yep.
<FreeTrade> Self appointed.
<jhicks> Falwell is marginally smarter
<jhicks> like a slug is smarter than a snail :)
<`YYZ> Gene Scott is the best TV preacher
<Katey> Don't forget Dobson
<MikeyD> both of them need to retire and quit going around randomly imposing their wills upon people like their names are franklin d roosevelt
<jhicks> hmm, i got that backwards
<jhicks> Who was that TeeVee healer? "PUT YORE HANDS ON THE TEEVEE"
<Katey> I think Dobson actually has more influence these days than Falwell or Roberston
<YYZ> benny hinn?
<FreeTrade> These guys who attribute natural disastors or terrorist attacks as the will of god to punish whomever.
<Katey> Although, admittedly, I'm not really plugged into that community very well
<jhicks> naw, dallas charlatain
<MikeyD> i want all of the religious zealots who use government to further their agenda gone
<DeDannan> jhicks, that would be Robert Tilton :)
<CometBaby> MikeyD .. you are really being authoritarian here. You would deny them their constitutional right to believe in God?
<FreeTrade> I think Dobson is more moderate.. But I dont really know him either.
<jhicks> DeDannan: that's him!
<CometBaby> or to preach?
<FreeTrade> I barely know him I should say.
<MikeyD> infact, i want a 3 hour pay per view where i get to watch them repeatedly *****slapped
<jhicks> haha
<DeDannan> jhicks, but Ernest Angeley was doing that shtick even before Tilton...
<MikeyD> no, i would deny them using god to push their agenda in government
<CometBaby> The only reason I mentioned robertson was because he continually made ridiculous statements in public. He is an embar***ment to the human race.
<DeDannan> who's most famous now for being the "farting preacher" :)
<jhicks> DeDannan: hrm, dunno about him
<CometBaby> but he has a right to do it
<Katey> FreeTrade, no, Dobson isn't more moderate. He's a pretty strong socially conservative christian
<Lupine> UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- About half of the 4,500 companies in the U.N. oil-for-food program paid $1.8 billion in kickbacks and illicit surcharges to Saddam Hussein's government, according to a U.N.-backed investigation obtained by The ***ociated Press.
<Katey> And he's become very influential
<FreeTrade> MikeyD, I dont approach my political views through anger though, I do it through promotion of good politics and good candidates.
<Lupine> HALF??? No wonder these people did not want the US to go into Iraq!!!!
<CometBaby> MikeyD .. then you don't believe in the consitution after all. So stop *****ing.
<MikeyD> theres no such thing as a good canidate these days
<DeDannan> Robertson was also a Republican presidential candidate, if memory serves :)
<Katey> I do think that Dobson is more savvy when it comes to media though
<Katey> DeDannan, yep
<MikeyD> show me in the constitution where zealots gets free reign of other peoples lives
<CometBaby> [09:48] <+MikeyD> no, i would deny them using god to push their agenda in government
<CometBaby> its their right
<MikeyD> uh
<MikeyD> really
<MikeyD> so, let me get this straight
<CometBaby> so if you would deny them that .. then you don't really believe in the constituion alfter all
<CometBaby> you don't have to like it
<CometBaby> that isn't in the constitution
<jhicks> point
<MikeyD> they have a right to restrict peoples actions, behaviors, rights and life because it's not what they believe god would want?
<FreeTrade> This President in 5 years has endured the largest terrorist attack in history against the USA by foreign agents. He inherited a stock market bomb and a recession, between he and Greenspan they wisely made it a soft recession and we were seeing tremendous growth in the economy before Katrina and we still are, but Katrina will cause some economic problems even as it causes a lot of economic activity by rebuilding.
<jhicks> Just like atheists have the right to pursue their agenda.
<CometBaby> MikeyD the man is a preacher. It is his job to do that.
<FreeTrade> This president has on his watch endured the worst natural disastor in US history as well.
<CometBaby> You don't have to go to his church
<MikeyD> i have no issue with him being a preacher
<CometBaby> but you cannot deny him his constitutional right to do it
<FreeTrade> In Contect of what this man has came into and had to deal with. I think he is a great man.
<jhicks> FreeTrade: I heard Al Qaeda is taking credit for Katrina
<CometBaby> so stop *****ing
<MikeyD> i have issues with him using his religious views to take away from others via government influence
<FreeTrade> Jhicks, Yeah but then they dont explain why the earthquakes happened in the region of the world where they get the most support :)
<jhicks> hehe
<jhicks> tsunami too
<FreeTrade> Even in Pakistan it was the part of pakistan that his supporters lived in.
<jhicks> yep
<CometBaby> MikeyD .. boo hiss .. you cannot make your case so just drop it.
<MikeyD> he does not have a right to use god in government to seek to constrain and take away peoples right to liberty
<FreeTrade> And why did god kill so many muslims in East Asia ? He must of been mad.. (Of course I do not believe what I just said)
<MikeyD> uh, no. i made my case just fine
<jhicks> I think I'm more of a deist
<CometBaby> MikeyD .. he can't and he isn't.
<MikeyD> you havent justifed why people have the right to impose their morality on me via government
<CometBaby> He is preaching to his people .. people that choose to go to his church .. people who agree with him. So get off your pity pot.
<L0c0> Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's call for Israel to be "wiped off the map" has triggered a sharp international response and widespread condemnation.
<L0c0> great...
<DeDannan> the wheels on the bus go round and round...round and round...round and round...
<jhicks> God made the universe and then went on vacation to Pismo beach
<L0c0> just fan****ingtastic
<L0c0> like things couldn't get worse in the region
<FreeTrade> Mikey, In Law school you learn that the law is the codification of morality.
<FreeTrade> This is what law makers do every day, they make moral judgements.
<MikeyD> liberty dictates you cant impose morality upon people
<jhicks> (or immoral ones)
<FreeTrade> But I think you mean more specifically morality on a personal consentual adult level.
<FreeTrade> And I agree with you.
<DeDannan> appears there's still somce confusion between liberty and liscense...
<FreeTrade> A morality where the harm is only to the individual who chooses it, if it is a harm at all.
<jhicks> MikeyD: there's too many people for liberty to remain unconstrained.
<FreeTrade> Ded, liberty and Libertine.
<jhicks> "general welfare" etc
<DeDannan> FT, that too :)
<FreeTrade> hehe
<Lupine> DeDannan: Hey, what do you think about this? http://onlythebestfirearms.com/1022brief.html
<MikeyD> eh
