<MikeyD> why was it a federal issue in the first place
<MikeyD> not to mention
<RustyFord> Tim when you were a kid did your mother have to tell you not to eat the yellow snow?
<US-Male> like, arguing over which nanny is supposed to care for me
<TimothyW> MikeyD : the people wanted to stay in there Homes cause they were afraid of losing them.
<MikeyD> why is rebuilding it a federal issue
<US-Male> the law clearly requires that the state must approve "federalizing" the Natl guard troops (the way it's historically been done) but since governor Blanco refused, Bush had to use other states' guard tropps and regular military
<TimothyW> MikeyD : cause the government doesn't want Monopolies in the Construction Companies. So they must use responsibility to give the contracts to the right people so Monopolies aren't created.
<US-Male> MikeyD yeah
<US-Male> either Blanco is an idiot, or she was playing politics with thousands of lives
<MikeyD> the income redistribution schemes in this country sink of socialism
<US-Male> or both
<TimothyW> You can have a Federal Monopoly while in the State you have no Monopoly.
<RustyFord> MIkey how would you know?=P
<MikeyD> common sense of trial and error
<MikeyD> of/or
<RustyFord> hahahahah
<MikeyD> if you know snow is white, but yet theres some in fromt of you thats yellow, its safe to say that you shouldnt ****w ith it
<DarthBurg> Yellow snow, yellow cake, its all bad
<MikeyD> yellowcake batter is evil
<OcDoc> batter up!
<MikeyD> ok, i need breakfast
<MikeyD> brb
<OcDoc> so is anyone else surprised that the world series has come and gone without being noticed?
<DarthBurg> who won the superbowl?
<OcDoc> what's that?
<DarthBurg> a car race i think
<OcDoc> no, that's March Madness
<DarthBurg> ahh, and a shot deep from in the field is worth seven
<OcDoc> the shootist
<DarthBurg> only if he is behind the line
<OcDoc> gunman: are you 'lone?
<Gunman> well...thats how i got my nick, if thats what you want to know
<Gunman> i was an XPhile before they moved to LA
<Gunman> im looking at the topic and have one question...
<OcDoc> who moved to LA?
<Gunman> 'probable'?
<L0c0> CALEDONIA, Michigan (AP) -- A woman who took an unpaid leave of absence from work to see her husband off to war has been fired after failing to show up for her part-time receptionist job the day following his departure.
<L0c0> geez
<L0c0> talk about cold-hearted
<Gunman> yeah, i just read that
<DarthBurg> Man, there are some down right pissed off Conservatives over this Harriet thing
<CometBaby> l0c0 probably some anti war activist
<Gunman> on the one hand, i dont think thats the sole reason they fired her...on the other hand, couldnt they have considered how bad the timing was just a LITTLE?
<DarthBurg> L0c0 time to lawyer up.
<CometBaby> I don't really think that employer expected that to make the newpaper.
<L0c0> oh
<L0c0> she didn't return when she said she would
<OcDoc> no one expects the spanish inquisition
<CometBaby> lol
<L0c0> she took the day off to see him go, but didn't show up the next day
<DarthBurg> always have a token spaniard at interrigations
<Gunman> comet: yeah, but they shouldve considered the possibility
<CometBaby> loco .. I got the impression he fired her the next day when she did show up
<trompe> the article should have read "Woman fails to show up to work, is fired"
<Gunman> like i said, i dont think thats the REAL reason they fired her...just the official one
<OcDoc> well, she was too sore to go to work form ... well, you know ...
<CometBaby> Gunman .. could be. But that's the reason they used.
<L0c0> cometbaby: nope
<CometBaby> so thats the reason they are going to have to live with
<CometBaby> loco ... url ?
<Gunman> i work at a country club and one girl was fired for taking a 'no call no show'...fact was she was an incredibly unpleasant person who truly thought that since she was sleeping with a manager from another country club that she could have anybody fired...
<trompe> Sounds like a perfectly valid reason for me... what is there to object to?
<Gunman> trompe: the timing
<L0c0> http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/27/wife.fired.ap/index.html
<OcDoc> bleeding hearts
<L0c0> it was a part-time job
<L0c0> not like it was a major career
<Gunman> *rolls eyes*
<DarthBurg> oh great, another Doom and Gloom Climate Change Book.
<OcDoc> Gunman: hey, that's pretty good! how do you do that?
<trompe> she's certainly playing it for all it's worth
<Gunman> anyway, it would not surprise me to find that she was either a pain to work with or the managers didnt like her or something
<CometBaby> She said she had told her bosses that she would try to return on October 17 but if she could not, she would definitely be back October 18, she said.
<CometBaby> She had to drive to another city to see him off
<L0c0> hmm
<OcDoc> Comet: uh oh
<OcDoc> that looks bad
<L0c0> 5th grader in Austin suspended for exposing himself to other children. decision now is whether to charge him w/ a crime
<L0c0> ahh
<trompe> Right... tomorrow at work I'm going to tell them that I'm going to another city and that I'll definitely be back by Christmas
<OcDoc> Loco: nah, just send him to a hippy commune
<trompe> you can all shed a tear for me when they fire me
<Gunman> if she did things that warranted her to be fired, then they shouldve picked another time
<RustyFord> L0c0 did the kid lie about it?
<CometBaby> OcDoc has a bad case of Kerryitis
<RustyFord> i mean really, its not any worse than what Clinton has done
<RustyFord> and he's never been charged wiht a crime
<RustyFord> except for lying
<CometBaby> don't worry ocdoc .. in one hour you will take a different position on the issue :)
<L0c0> rustyford: haha..
<Gunman> yes he was, he was charged with perjury
<OcDoc> Comet: only if you give me additional information
<Gunman> and having an affair isnt a crime
<RustyFord> which is what i said Gunman
<Gunman> well...it was in the 17th century
<OcDoc> Gunman: it is in Nigeria
<RustyFord> read, boy READ!!
<Gunman> and, make no mistake, we
<Gunman> we're working our way back there
<Gunman> but until then...
<OcDoc> we don't have to go backwards in time, we just have to travel a few thousand miles
<CometBaby> Oc .. well it is a major symptom of Kerryitis .. you won't need new info :)
<CometBaby> all you will need is a different audience
<Gunman> either that or give religious enthusiasts enough power
<RustyFord> whats wrong with religion?
<OcDoc> they have the power, they just don't have the majority
<Gunman> nothings wrong with religion
<Gunman> its the zealots that scare me
<hans_kung> I love religion so much, I think they should have in churches!
<OcDoc> there's plenty wrong with religion
<hans_kung> er should have it :P
<RustyFord> well then say so.... before I put a curse that even Allah won't be able to lift on you
<RustyFord> hehee
<Gunman> im a born and raised catholic and i have a bible on my bookshelf...i dont force my houseguests to read it though :)
<hans_kung> nice guy! :)
<Gunman> i do what i can :)
<OcDoc> so you believe in lots of stuff that isn't so?
<RustyFord> I have a cat hanging on my door to ward off evil spirits but i don't force anyone to pet it
<DeDannan> he does however demand they say the Salve Regina before cocktails :)
<L0c0> there's nothing wrong with religion or being religious
<OcDoc> Loco: sure there is
<L0c0> as long as people keep it to themselves and don't go around trying to push their personal views onto others
<RustyFord> your god ****s more than mine does
<CometBaby> well, a lot of religions preach that their flock have a responsibility to go out and save others .. and so they attempt to force themselves onto you. It's disgusting.
<panini> there IS something wrong with being a scientologist
<Gunman> right...its forcing your religious beliefs on others...
<L0c0> panini: well, tha'ts b/c they're all nutjobs
<L0c0> haha
<Gunman> panini: yeah...it turns good actors into raving lunatics
<OcDoc> it also turns bad actors into raving lunatics
<CometBaby> I went to the library one time and some man came and sat next to me and asked me "do you believe in god?". I told him it was none of his business and that if he didn't leave me alone I was going to call for the library staff. I said it good and loud too. He didn't back off so I followed through.
<Gunman> ocdoc: oh come on...did you see collateral? tom cruise was good in that
<DeDannan> and turns raving lunatics into best selling authors
<Gunman> he got screwed by not getting a nomination for that
<RustyFord> heheh, you know what would be cool, you know how judges have that hammer, it would be cool to see a judge use a Crucifix instead
<Gunman> dedanna: politics does that :-D
<RustyFord> WHAP! WHAP! ORder in this court god damn it!
<CometBaby> imo that kind of behavior is just plain repulsive. It does not represent religion well at all. They send crazy people out to har*** others.
<Gunman> dedanna: i have 'rush limbaugh is a big fat idiot' and 'al franken is a bucktooth moron' sitting next to each other on my bookshelf...neither of them are particularly entertaining or informative...but they look great sitting next to each :)
<L0c0> CB: i used to get those too when i used to ride the bus..they were always downtown
<OcDoc> religion is the persistent belief in something that isn't so
<RustyFord> Do you, hereby swear on this stack of Penthouses to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you Rush Limbaugh?
<DeDannan> Gunman, Al Franken doesnt have buck teeth :)
<hans_kung> Rush on the other hand, was a big fat slob.
