<hans_kung> :)
<Airbuster> has there been any significant cuts in Cali's govt recently?
<Lupine> second, I havn't even seen any evidence that she was a "active covert agent"
<hans_kung> same exact words.
<hans_kung> Lupine: Fitzgerald wouldn't have worked on the case 2 years if there wasn't.
<hans_kung> He must know something we/you don't.
<JanetB> when a reported follows you to the door of langley and watchs you go in, you are not very covert hehe
<JanetB> reporter
<Disbelief> has_kung - MERE TECHNICALITIES! why should we expect the subjects of an investigation to tell the truth to the prosecutor? that's a TECHNICALITY if they don't.
<hans_kung> Fitzgerald btw was praised by the President.
<Disbelief> indeed.
<Cathy344> Both the right and the left are completely full of **** with regard to cutting government. The left is screaming about how we've cut it dangeously thin and the right is claiming there's no where left to trim. They're both so full of **** you can use either of them to fertilize the back 40.
<RustyFord> yeap California has term limits on governors 2/4 year terms
<Disbelief> hardly a partisan on a witch hunt.
<hans_kung> He really is beyond reproach if indictments come down. Rove can't spin himself out of (this) one.
<Disbelief> hans_kung - Rove needs his own Rove!
<hans_kung> Fitzy isn't even a registered voter.
<hans_kung> Doesn't really even care from friends who know him.
<Disbelief> yeah
<DeDannan> hans_kung, nevermind..he's still part of the Vast Leftwing Conspiracy :)
<RustyFord> Lupine not to mention Cheney would be cleared to talk to Libby about Valerie Plame
<Disbelief> hehe
<hans_kung> Fitzy went after a Democratic Gov of Illinois
<RustyFord> like the Vice President wouldn't have the security clearance
<RustyFord> hahahahahaha
<hans_kung> so that partisan thing won't work
<Lupine> RF: Yep. Well, if Truman didn't know about the atomic bomb...
<hans_kung> never mind he bagged the 1993 bombers of the WTC
<DeDannan> hans_kung, Ryan?
<Disbelief> hans_kung - i heard on NewsMax that fitzy's sister in law voted for a democrat once....
<hans_kung> yah DeDannan.
<hans_kung> I am sure the smear campaign efforts by some right wingers on Fitzy won't have any ammo on him. He's tuff as nails anyhows.
<Disbelief> they call it "overzealous"
<hans_kung> Poor guy needs to smile though. He's rather morose looking.
<Disbelief> the man's gone crazy! he's doing his job, and thoroughly! this is an outrage!
<RustyFord> I think the CIA needs to be completely dismantled
<RustyFord> and let the chips fall where they may
<hans_kung> Huffington is going bonkers on how tight the NY Times is with Bush; and thinks they are too easy on Bush. Amazes me the feelings and invective that newspaper can muster on both sides of the spectrum.
<Disbelief> hans_kung - its his poker face. though, i doubt you'd be cheery if you knew the details of the extent to which figures in the bush white house contorted the niger uranium story. its probably terribly unsettling for him.
<Disbelief> Fitzgerald is probably learning things that would make any decent american vomit.
<hans_kung> 2 years ago he provided info to the judge, who agreed to allow the grand jury after hearing the evidence. Judge cited the gravity of the evidence. You wonder what it is.
<TimothyW> iraqibodycount website needs to dismantled.
<hans_kung> I don't think it's all come out yet.
<JustHangi> hans_kung its evidence that its no longer a newspaper
<Glock21> "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
<Glock21> Damn contorted.
<Katey> TimothyW, you get on that
<astrodog> Heh.
<Disbelief> Glock21 - absolutely is when THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT LEARNED THAT IT WAS HORSE****. selective omissions are deception as well.
<DeDannan> yes, for God's sake let's pretend nobody is being killed over there...
<astrodog> Its hard to play rough, with the guy who will indite you for ****ing around. :P
<Glock21> Disbelief... the Brits still stand by it.
<JustHangi> hans_kung clearly the Times has become corrupt...as has the supreme court....and is now viewed as a political football
<Katey> DeDannan, why do you hate America?
<JustHangi> astrodog howdy dude
<Glock21> It was one of the few claims by the Brits that withstood the investigations of how "***ed up" their facts were.
<DeDannan> Katey, oh its true! I must hate America!
<Glock21> That one turned out to be accurate.
<Disbelief> glock21 - time was, when the american government validated intelligence before it launched wars. now we just trust the british.
<Katey> DeDonna, it fact!
<DeDannan> oh wow
<astrodog> I've been pretty impressed with the prosecutor in the leak case. Not leaking ****, and not calling press confrences over every little thing.
<Disbelief> he runs a damn tight ship
<JustHangi> astrodog Giuliani's protege
<lgcbmb> Disbelief, since when has USA validated intelligence before it launched wars? :P
<DarthBurg> yeah, at least the guy is not holding regular press conferences, i can agree with that.
<Katey> has he held any?
<Disbelief> astrodog - i think he realizes that all the leaks coming out of the Starr probe merely served to highlight how stupid, trivial, and sloppy his investigation was.
<JustHangi> if Rudy becomes president, dont be surprised if Fitzgerald is named AG
<Disbelief> "if rudy becomes president"
<astrodog> I think he had one, at the start of the investigation, to announce the purpose, and scope. That was about it.
<Disbelief> HAHAHAHAHA
<Katey> lol
<DarthBurg> yeah, Rudy is not right wing enough
<Disbelief> i mean, c'mon. that's just just ****ing silly.
<DarthBurg> is it?
<astrodog> Just: If Fitzgerald indites, and a dem becomes president, don't be suprised either. :P
<Disbelief> not your comment
<Disbelief> of course he's not rightwing
<Disbelief> 'enough'
<JustHangi> Disbelief well, Fitzgerald got this gig because Rudy recommended him
<Disbelief> he's idiot-wing.
<hans_kung> ha Rudy is one republican I'd vote for :P He had NYC goose stepping in 8 years
<Glock21> It'd be interesting to have another dem president.
<hans_kung> cleaned this place RIGHT ON UP!
<RustyFord> this is funny the media talks about "Fitzgeral seems to be focusing in on Rove and what he told the grand jury"
<Disbelief> justhangi - thats not why he 'got' it, but that says nothing of rudys' chances of winning the nomination, let alone becoming prez.
<RustyFord> uhhmm Fitzgerald hasn't said ****
<DarthBurg> Rudy is pretty popular with the m***es, and he is one of those them there moderates you hear so much about. what, has he got baggage? well, that will just help with the lefties
<RustyFord> so how can they ***ume anything about the "focus"?
<Glock21> Only had 4 or so in the last 50 years.
<astrodog> Glock: If this investigation gets people charged, its gonna be nasty in 08, that's for sure.
<JustHangi> DarthBurg he's far and away the favorite for election in 2008
<Glock21> astrodog... that'd only be if the dunderhead voters gave a rats ***.
<Disbelief> though rudy does have one thing going for him...he never had to vote to authorize the president to use force in iraq. so despite his obvious and on-record support for the war, he'll be able to claim some sort of phony impartiality in retrospect.
<Glock21> Average voter has no idea who Rove or Libby really are.
<Katey> RustyFord, I think they're basing it on who he has called to testify, how often, and what records he's suppenoaed
<JustHangi> Disbelief wanna bet? wanna give me odds?
<astrodog> Glock: Someone being indited, removes them from participating, though.
<Glock21> Hell, *I* don't even know what Scooter Libby does.
<Katey> Glock21, eh. most voters know Rover I'll ber
<Katey> bet*
<Glock21> And I could really care less.
<hans_kung> Glock21: to be honest, I thought Scooter was a chick.
<Katey> Probably not Libby
<DeDannan> Glock21, I think he's in charge of tee times...
<lgcbmb> heh
<RustyFord> he's the adviser to Cheney
<JanetB> cheney's cheif advisor
<astrodog> Glock: Think about the political ads you could run. "So and So continues to employ people charged by the federal prosecutor in connection with leaking the identity of a CIA agent. Do you really want....." etc.
<Katey> How does a grown man that works in a presidential administration manage to still be stuck with a nickname like "Scooter"?
<DeDannan> probably set up the "hunting trip" in Pa...
<Disbelief> JustHangi - i would take that bet, yes. "President Giuliani," just doesn't seem likely to me.
<Glock21> If either one gets indicted it isn't going to make Bubba Jones NRA membership expire and suddenly a democrat lovin' peacenik.
<DarthBurg> Disbelief I think you are wrong. the country is not going to suddenly, magically, flip over for a non war president. I just do not see it. sure the USA might very well go Donk, if they put up someone besides the unelectable hillary, however, he is going to have to be a hawk. I do not see appeasers and peaceniks with all that much political capital right now. maybe its just me
<Katey> Glock21, no, of course not.
<JustHangi> astrodog it will be disturbing if its really all about nothing. I was hoping that Fitzgerald would dig into the culture of treason inside State and CIA
<Glock21> The only people who care about this indictment crap are people who already picked a side.
<Katey> The diehards, on either end, won't budge
<Glock21> And they aren't going to swing over the matter.
<Katey> Well, no
<JustHangi> Disbelief what odds are you offering?
<Katey> I don't agree there
<Katey> Moderates will care
<Disbelief> i think the appetite for show-boating hawkishness will largely subside once people realize the economy is in the crapper and the billions going overseas for the war aren't helping.
<Glock21> The real idiots, the ones who really swing the vote... don't care.
<Katey> people who tend to flip back and forth
<Katey> Glock21, it doesn't mean they don't care
<Katey> It means that their views are mixed
<Disbelief> JustHangi - 3 to 1 that Rudy Giuliana is NOT the next president.
<Glock21> They care about gas being expensive.
<Cathy344> The only thing I care about are finally kicking tis week long cold to the curb.
<tehdave> he has to be a hawk donk?
<lgcbmb> then again gentlemen, what if we gave a war and everybody came?
<RustyFord> we can't afford a pacifist president, with the statement that has come out of Iran today
<Glock21> If dems can make them believe that dems can make gas cheaper... they'll vote for a dem.
<Katey> I'd imagine that a significant group of people are mixed view types
<Cathy344> lgcbmb: Global population control.
<Glock21> Because they don't care about the political bs... they care about their situation.
<JustHangi> Disbelief economy in the crapper? seems to me its chugging along even with a $30 premium in the price of a barrel of oil on its back. Sort of amazing actually.
<Katey> They want cheap gas, low taxes, good funding for public schools and police, good roads, etc
<DarthBurg> Disbelief you are aware that I have posted the best five years since I opened my doors since 2000, and I been in business here since 91. the last five years the economy has rocked. so, just where is this economic slowdown? energy? record profits. I think there is a bubble in the auto market, but as soon as they shrug off the unions, it will pick up.
<DarthBurg> where is this ****ty economy?
<hans_kung> Can a candidate win enough electoral votes without carrying one state in the South now?
<DarthBurg> NO?
<hans_kung> just wondered
<hans_kung> and still win ?
<DarthBurg> Homedepot plans on selling record numbers of pieces of plywood.
