<P_O> woot.
<SweetLeaf> I live in a condo
<bmc> and then there was P_O
<SweetLeaf> smells too much
<randym> nah
<bmc> eheh
<randym> just use a tent
<Rebec> you got your voice
<SweetLeaf> I like the Kush and it aint happening
<pilgrim`> interestingly, I have a AMD 900mhz or so PC in the shop on 98SE. it is just as fast, and in some thigns faster then a 3ghz P4 runnign XP
<pilgrim`> the overhead of XP is terrible
<Lithium-> no you probably have it configured incorrectly
<SweetLeaf> I got this computer out o the trash heh
<P_O> pilgrim`, 98SE 4 life.
<bmc> put linux on it
<bmc> or *bsd
<pilgrim`> if you have a good firewall, and good barriers to the internet, run 98
<P_O> SweetLeaf, I know how that goes.
<bud``> at least xp doesn't self destruct after 6 months or so
<Lithium-> what lol
<Lithium-> 98 is like the worst os ever
<P_O> No.
<Lithium-> well, second to ME
<bud``> the ol' windows needs reformat/reinstall days seem over
<P_O> ME is.
<P_O> ME < 3.1
<Lithium-> cant believe someone is advocating using it
<pilgrim`> PO I have run Debian Gentoo Slack and Redhat, I play with Free and Net BSD and I use OS X, I am familiar with BeOS and a number of opsys you never heard of
<SweetLeaf> I had nothing but problems with the computer that has Asus MB it is a ****ing mess replacet MB 4 times
<P_O> pilgrim` runs Amiga.
<pilgrim`> 98 works better on MS apps then does XP. period
<Lithium-> thats..absurd
<SweetLeaf> Never Never buy Asuse
<pilgrim`> PO actually I have but sold my CatWeasel board
<bud``> timmmmaaay
<Lithium-> pilgrim` probably runs XP with 64mb ram
<occ2> miers bailed
<occ2> as im sure everyone already knows
<P_O> omg, someone ****ing covered Blue Monday
<P_O> and they failed.
<P_O> People should not cover perfect songs.
<pilgrim`> Lithium well actually I kept installing till I had it on the min sys it would work on just to see
<occ2> everyone covers that song
<pilgrim`> Pentium 1 75mhz
<occ2> for some reason
<bud``> this coulda been a brilliant political move, with miers
<P_O> occ2, I guess this cover is a bit interesting
<hans_kung> heh 98? ****s the big kahuna.
<P_O> cause they use guitars instead
<pilgrim`> it would not work on a 60
<P_O> but still.
<hans_kung> MS doesn't even support it
<bud``> knowing she wasnt gonna actually go through
<P_O> hans_kung, MS doesn't support much of anything.
<hans_kung> looks very promising.
<hans_kung> But not Vista, that looks very ...boring.
<P_O> occ2, I only like covers when they kicked the *** of the original.
<pilgrim`> I use 98 for basic operability. no h***els no problems, and since it is behind 2 firewals, and a doubled router, it works quite clean
<bud``> now appoint Samuel Alito to scotus
<P_O> For example, The Cure - Love Song, is only so-so to me, but Jack Off Jill's cover of it rocks.
<P_O> I can't imagine someone surp***ing New Order on their own songs.
<DStewart> Just don't actually try to run any applications on Windows 98.
<DStewart> Including Internet Explorer. :p
<P_O> I lived on 98SE alright for quite a long period of time.
<P_O> It lasted longer for me than XP has so far.
<pilgrim`> I have a IP so I run: Internet--> myIP on DSL--1st 192.169 net--> ROUTER 1--- second 192.168 net---ROUTER 2 --> 10.10 net --> router 3 --shop 192.1768 net---> 98 box
<DStewart> Yes, well, you can keep Windows XP for a while too.
<P_O> I don't mean uptime wise
<P_O> I mean before something failed software-wise
<DStewart> Nor do I.
<pilgrim`> I am sitting near a box
<pilgrim`> the box is a Pentium 166mhz box
<eurolite> im sitting next to a dual 3ghz server on fios with 4gb of ram
<pilgrim`> it is up running a single app and has had ZERO downtime for 5 months
<pilgrim`> it is on:
<pilgrim`> Win 95
<eurolite> running solaris
<bmc> i have internet -> cable modem -> me :P
<DStewart> I'm sitting in front of a 2Ghz iMac with 1.5GB RAM. It's a good thing.
<eurolite> imac = poop
<pilgrim`> I run several process/ alls/ and like to experiment with various network protocols
<eurolite> g5 = good
<DStewart> bmc, man, you're jacked in directly?
<P_O> I'm sitting next to a broken XP box with 2.1GHz, 1.5GB RAM
<deidra> good morning chat friends
<pilgrim`> DS many are :(
<bmc> why not?
<DStewart> eurolite, actually iMac =/= poop. You are mistaken.
<TimothyW> haku : blah
<P_O> Plugged directly in isn't bad if you're OS is alright.
<pilgrim`> bmc look up "zombie machine"
<bmc> i think its secure enough
<pilgrim`> PO yep. DOS works great
<pilgrim`> I don't
<eurolite> haha
<P_O> bmc runs on teh Linux
<bmc> i havent been proven wrong yet so it manages
<P_O> I think anyway.
<eurolite> some kids from my old highschool came for some school donation ****
<eurolite> i was like **** you that school ****s
<P_O> So it doesn't matter so long as he doesn't run a dumb daemon.
<P_O> eurolite, you ****ed them?
<bmc> i run identd
<bmc> hah
<bmc> thats a pretty dumb daemon
<eurolite> P_O you have a vivid immagination
<eurolite> a perverted one
<bud``> i used to run an absolutely minimal slackware install, back when i knew slackware like the back of my hand, and thats about the only time i trusted a direct connection
<P_O> eurolite, it happens.
<P_O> bud``, I might setup a slackware box and pwn it.
<alh> I installed linux on my ipod nano yesterday...
<P_O> Heh.
<P_O> You can install Linux on anything
<DStewart> alh, pansy. I installed it on an iPod Shuffle.
<strider_> fbsd
<P_O> DStewart, lol
<P_O> DStewart, what the **** is the point of that? :P
