<Nemes> "bob i have to interrupt you there because -wait-wait yes, yes i think we can, yes that's it i can officially say that we have nothing to report so far bob". <Nemes> hehe <CometBaby> according to the NYT libby will be charged but not rove .. <CometBaby> oh .. I can see the tears now <CometBaby> http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/28/politics/28leak.html?ei=5065&en=3a595f3236411812&ex=1131163200&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print <MadScribe> who are you giving tissue to? the libs are still asleep from what i see, they will be up in about 20minutes or so though <MadScribe> well, most <CometBaby> oh no .. they are in here .. lurking :) <West`> yeah we didnt even sleep, its like christmas eve! <West`> *rolls his eyes* <Nemes> yeah most are asleep me thinks, i am as liberal as you get for now hehe <Nemes> come on hit me - i can take it peeps <Nemes> heh <inert> what's the leaning in here anyway? <Nemes> me im central but with strong leenings towards the military - the majority is american gop <Nemes> with a few liberals and a couple of dems <Lithium-> rove will still be under investigation <Lithium-> hes not exactly off the hook <Lithium-> and libby's head isnt the only one that might roll in a few hours <inert> i really can't understand why people stand by the gop. <Nemes> wrong statement to make hehe <West`> because they have a strong voice, the democrats have too many voices to follow. <Nemes> but you might survive it seen as how half the channel is asleep :) <MadScribe> i can't understand why anyone would ***ociate themselves with either side <Nemes> well said MadScribe <MadScribe> as the majority on both are idiots or theieves <West`> MadScribe agreed. <MadScribe> thieves even <Nemes> gotta go pickup meds bbs <MadScribe> nice time to mispell <Lithium-> well, you root for the people who are closer to your POV in the absense of people who have your exact POV <Lithium-> and you certainly root against people who hold the exact opposite of your POV <Lithium-> call it choosing the lesser of two evils if you want <MadScribe> Lithium-: i most times end up supporting the republicans simply b/c they the democrat polar is either a crook or a moron <MadScribe> -they <Lithium-> well, a moron and a crook are the top 2 people in charge right now as far as im concerned <MadScribe> of which party? <Lithium-> the country <Lithium-> bush/cheney respectively <MadScribe> i know, that was intended though <Lithium-> if i have to spell it out <Lithium-> i mean cmon <Lithium-> i started learning english at 11, yet i have a better command of it than bush does <Lithium-> personally i find that sad <MadScribe> i've said the same thing the entire time: i had my doubts about bush before the first election, but 9/11 made him into a real president <MadScribe> Lithium-: how many languages do you speak just out of curiosity? <Lithium-> fluently 2 <MadScribe> anywho, his speaking has gotten much better than it was at the start of his presidency <Lithium-> i can understand french a little <Lithium-> well, consider how much coaching goes into each of his press conferences <MadScribe> and they finally realized they can't completely close off the whitehouse, so that helps <Lithium-> which are the rarest of any president <Lithium-> and the only time he actually gets to make up his own sentences <Lithium-> and not read from the teleprompter <MadScribe> Bush i believe is an average speaker, we've become accustomed to presidents who were quite frankly eloquent speakers while reading from a script, i mean Regan was a friggin actor, Bush, Clinton, let's go back and look at Kennedy, i mean <Lithium-> as far as 9/11, anyone can raise the flag and call for war <MadScribe> all were great speakers <Lithium-> everyone wa already united, he was just the guy talking and in charge <Lithium-> so of course people saw him as a leader <MadScribe> Bush uses a lot of colloquialisms, but in the end it works out ok <MadScribe> Lithium-: prior to 9/11 this whitehouse had a policy of ignoring the rest of the world <MadScribe> 9/11 changed that and I think definately changed Bush as a president for the better <Lithium-> well, in my opinion one's eloquence is a decent indicator of intelligence <Lithium-> as far as one's lexicon <Lithium-> er, as much* <MadScribe> there are plenty of brilliant people who can't express themselves worth a crap <Lithium-> thats why 'decent' <MadScribe> it'd be nice, but not necessary as long as the strength of will and thinking processes are there <Lithium-> well, his mumblings do oftentime create an appearance that a moron is in charge <MadScribe> one of my co-workers has an MS in computer science, very intelligent guy, you just have to wait forever for him to get his ideas out <Lithium-> which reflects negatively on the whole country when perceived by foreigners <MadScribe> i make it a point to make everyone else shutup and listen <MadScribe> if you think speech is the indicator of intelligence you've probably missed a lot of worthwhile conversation <Lithium-> MadScribe: that could be a case of social anxiety also <Lithium-> MadScribe: i do not dis***ociate myself with people just on the basis of intelligence <Lithium-> or coversational skills for that matter <lucifer_> intelligence isnt the end-all if theres no wisdom added to it.. <lucifer_> i've played enough AD&D to know that :) <Lithium-> define wisdom? <lucifer_> experience, judging the right or sufficient approach in a given situation, practical insight, etc <Lithium-> or are those 2 separate categories in a character sheet? <Lithium-> i think i played AD&D once, got bored after 10 min and started attacking people in my party <lucifer_> knowing which criteria matter and which dont <MadScribe> great coversational skills != superior intelligence <MadScribe> there are several execellent speakers who are complete morons <MadScribe> take a look at congress <Lithium-> MadScribe: i wouldnt equate the 2, i just believe there's positive correlation <MadScribe> there can be <MadScribe> regardless of his speaking skills, there is one thing i like about Bush, I don't sense that he himself is a liar, something I wouldn't say for 99.9% of politicians, including those in his cabinet <Lithium-> lucifer_: my personal idea of intelligence combines both knowledge and the IQ intelligence <lucifer_> Lithium-: ah ok that may be a practical definition yes <Lithium-> MadScribe: i actually do believe bush means well <Lithium-> MadScribe: but considering he takes a lot of his ideas of right and wrong directly from the bible interpreted by people, and all the other ideas from his cabinet members who i believe are not as do-good oriented as bush is, it matters little if he means well or not <MadScribe> i think i'm gonna work from 7-4pm today <RainDog`> Here's an off-topic question: There's a filling station near here where the pump jumps up to 54 cents as soon as you turn it on. The owner claims that he won't change that. That it's because people "lift the hose" and empty it. <RainDog`> Does that make sense? <Lithium-> nope <Lithium-> you're paying per gallon <Lithium-> the pump stops automatically when the tank is full, you dont have a chance to "empty" it afterwards <RainDog`> Today is the day he gets reported, then. Screw that. Would mean, basically, that I have to "lift the hose" to get my money's worth. <Lotec> Rain, turn him in <RainDog`> All his pumps do it. <MadScribe> heh <MadScribe> 54 cents x Users per day <MadScribe> nice little accumulating profit <MadScribe> could be better than 10K/yr <MadScribe> depending on pump visits <RainDog`> Okay, just wondered what someone else thought about that. Seemed ridiculous to me. Thanks. <Lotec> Actually, he may be correct about where it went, but the next customer shouldn't get screwed <Lithium-> basically that amount was paid by someone <Lithium-> so he's double charging <Lotec> He may not be double charging. <RainDog`> If the "lift the hose" theory is correct, he's making me pay for the last guy's gas, or at best p***ing the cost on to the NEXT guy. <Lotec> Exactly <Lithium-> whoever turned on the pump first paid for whatever is in the hose right? <Lotec> No <RainDog`> Thing is, I've been around the block a few times, and I've never heard that crap before. <Lotec> Rain, I've heard it several times <NDavis> Hi all. I need some advice on an issue. ok? <RainDog`> Lithium-, no... The SECOND person pays for the first person's extra gas, unless he too "lifts the hose". <RainDog`> In which case the third pays, etc, etc. <NDavis> okay Raindog? <RainDog`> Anyway, thanks. <Lithium-> is the gas in the hose not supposed to be there or supposed to be there prior to customer #1? <RainDog`> Supposed to be there in the first place but the first customer is "stealing" the extra gas in the hose, according to the theory. <RainDog`> Whole thing's just retarded. <MadScribe> he could fix his pumps <Lotec> Lith, just trust that it works out fine as long as no one drains the hose or as long as everyone does <MadScribe> i've never heard that crap before <Lotec> I've heard it plenty <MadScribe> i've only been driving 12 years though <RainDog`> And all four of his pumps do it? I just find it hard to believe that EVERYONE around here lifts the hose. That's kid stuff. <RainDog`> Anyway... Christ. haha <Lotec> Rain, do you lift the hose now? <RainDog`> No. I ***** about it. <Lotec> Lots of folks just start lifting the hose <RainDog`> I'm not gonna ****in' lift the hose like some dustbowl okie. <Lithium-> lol <Lotec> I don't do it because it seems dishonest. I see some people doing it though <RainDog`> But the question is: Is it illegal to p*** the cost on like that? <RainDog`> There's no sign sayin' Lift the Hose or anything. <Lotec> Don't know about your state. <Lotec> You sound as concerned as a dustbowl okie <RainDog`> I just have it out for this bunch because they rip people off at EVERY opportunity. <Lotec> People been doing that at least since Carter was president. It just didn't used to cost as much <RainDog`> If I were a dustbowl okie I'd be more concerned about gittin' enough vittles for my fambly. <RainDog`> Anyway, enough. I'll just type off a complaint and stop shopping there. <RainDog`> End of story.
