<MadDwarf> 1st off disk keeper isn't a tool to check IF the hdd is BAD? its a defragging tool

<Ta1oN> ok, first of all, open a cmd shell
<Biggie_iv> have it open
<Ta1oN> then type in there: chkdsk c: /f
<Ta1oN> if c: is the drive with the damaged folder
<Phiber0pt> yea and reboot
<Ta1oN> it will tell you that the drive can't be unlocked, and if you want to shedule the check
<Ta1oN> say yes, and do a reboot
<Ta1oN> it will scan and repair your harddrive on this reboot

<Ta1oN> so that is the problem then... you just deleted the folders, and as such installed over a previous windows installation

<Ta1oN> anyway, the point is to boot with the xp cd, then when it asks you where to install windows to, press "d" to delete the partitions already there, until only one, big, unpartitioned space remains

<Ta1oN> and then boot from the cd again, and choose to partition/format/install
<Ta1oN> yeah, i understand why you did it, but you get no new windows this way

<Ta1oN> you should get something to backup your data, then clean the harddisk completely, and reinstall
<Ta1oN> then move the backupped data back again

<Ta1oN> then, open taskmgr.exe, end the explorer.exe process
<Ta1oN> use the cmd i gave Biggie_iv before to delete the folder (rd c:\foldername /s /q)
<Ta1oN> if that doesn't help, no clue
