<Webbie> ok obvious question here, one can have 2 Sata drives and 2 IDE drives right
<bofh`> yes
<Webbie> thought so
<Webbie> i got a 40 gb and 200 gb to put in
<Abydos313> Webbie sounds like government math :)
<Webbie> heh
<knack> is there a way of outputing the list of users in a local group in XP?
<knack> to a file, or to the cmd prompt
<blackdevl> knack: use a vbscript
<knack> is there not prebuilt command written to do it?
<Silverpil> anyone know if it take much broadband to talk over headset? (use msn)
<blackdevl> maybe net list
<blackdevl> no, nvm
<knack> not sure how to use net list to do it
<Ta1oN> net localgroup
<Ta1oN> net localgroup <groupname>
<Ta1oN> net localgroup <groupname> > group.txt
<Ta1oN> and so on
<knack> oooh perfect
<knack> thanks!
<Ta1oN> np
<Abydos313> then > filename.txt :)
<Abydos313> when is windows going to get sed, grep, awk? :))
<Ta1oN> when you learn to use wmi, adsi, and other cmds
<Abydos313> :) i want my tools i'm familiar with..lazy
<CyberGeek> ;-)
<Ta1oN> then stay with the system you are familiar with
<Webbie> heh
<Abydos313> i read something somewhere that talked about new utils/tools comming to windows with those programs..or something like them
<Ta1oN> and i read that a big meteor will crash into our planet in the year 2000 and kill all life here
<Abydos313> damn, i missed that article. did it hit..haha
<bofh`> sed grep and awk are all open source. compile them on your windows system
<Ta1oN> or install the unix tools for nt
<Ta1oN> or get the unix utils, which are already compiled
<Ta1oN> or, or, or
<bofh`> indeed, know there are several ports of sed
<Abydos313> i'll look into that.. great idea
<jediguy> Ta1oN: sup?
<Ta1oN> not much, just waiting for f.e.a.r to install
<jediguy> okay cool
<jediguy> I have mad problems with the network
<Abydos313> great reviews for that game
<Ta1oN> yeah, but i'm not that much of a gamer anyway... just borrowed it from a friend, cause he knows i like horror movies/games, and he told me it "will freak me out"...
<Azs> lol
<Abydos313> i'm the same. not much of a gamer at all.. 'virtaul pool 3' is my evil
<Ta1oN> the only game i play regularily, is wow, and sometimes ut2004
<Ta1oN> the first cause my wife is playing it, and the second cause i can't stop playing ut :>
<Ta1oN> no matter how old i get :P
<Abydos313> haha, games can be addicting
<Abydos313> coffee time..brb
<Ta1oN> jediguy, you still didn't describe your "mad problems" yet :>
<Ta1oN> i'm afk smoking, so you have time to write ;)
<jediguy> I have two xp pro computers, in a network.. and I can only share files from one of the computers. Can't ping the other computer, and can't do net view either.. guest accounts enabled on both. no firewall activated..
<Azs> workgroup
<plake> blackdevl: you around?
<jediguy> Azs: same workgroup
<Azs> enable netbios on both
<Azs> and finally, just what are you using to "network" these systems?
<Azs> ?? sharing
<CyberGeek> sharing == see ?? filesharing
<Azs> ?? filesharing
<CyberGeek> filesharing == For XP Home: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/filesharing.htm | For XP Pro: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/index.htm | For all other issues > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304040
<Ta1oN> yeah, what Azs said... how exactly are they connected to each other?
<jediguy> through routers.
<jediguy> it worked before I re-installed the computer.
<Ta1oN> can each pc ping himself?
<Ta1oN> try ping 127.0.0.1 first on both machines
<Ta1oN> if that works, try ping 192.168.0.1 or whatever ip it has, on each machine
<plake> Ta1oN: pm...
<blackdevl> toothplake sup
<jediguy> it works to ping the machine it selfs.
<blackdevl> *** sup
<Ta1oN> with both ips, the 192.... and the 127...?
<Ta1oN> jediguy, if both pc's can ping itself, and the connection works in one direction without problems, i'm 99,2% sure that it is a routing problem
<Ta1oN> check your router settings
<Ta1oN> also try it with a normal switch or a crossover cable between the 2 pc's, if it works there, it's definitly the router
<josh10014> hi
<josh10014> i've had this computer for about a year
<josh10014> and in the past couple of days, it has started to lock up overnight
<josh10014> when i come back to my computer in the morning, i turn on my monitor and the screen saver is frozen
<josh10014> is there some tool i can use to monitor what is happening just before it locks up?
<josh10014> i cant imagine anything that has changed recently that would be causing this
<jak2000> Ta1oN: http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1118334819584&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
<jak2000> recommend me?
<Ta1oN> i recommend using tinyurl.com next time :P
<Ta1oN> looks like a good router though
<Ta1oN> but if you want to buy it solely for vpn, i would say go for a w2k3 machine instead... it'll do the vpn part much nicer, but would cost more of course
<jak2000> Ta1oN not know about: tinyurl.com...
<Ta1oN> www.tinyurl.com
<jak2000> Ta1oN these router work with dyndns.com jeje
<Ta1oN> tinyurl.com helps you shorten urls you want to post here
<jak2000> in the manual say "dyndns" then if work with dyndns then too work with no-ip....
<jak2000> not?
<josh10014> anyone have anu advice for me?
<josh10014> *any
<Ta1oN> yes, that means it has a dyndns client integrated, which will automatically update your dyndns entried
<Ta1oN> *entries
<plake> Ta1oN: thanks anyways
<Ta1oN> but you still need to get a dyndns entry somewhere
<Ta1oN> np plake
<Ta1oN> try www.dyndns.org for example
<Ta1oN> ok, off to try fear now... if i'm not back in an hour, i either like the game, or i died through a heart attack :P
<josh10014> anyone?
<gargan> so what sort of things cause XP to immediately reset?
<gargan> I'm still trying to figure out wtf is wrong with this customer's computer. it crashes seemingly randomly, but I can always make it crash by going to all programs on the start menu
<gargan> and it doesnt just crash, it IMMEDIATELY resets
<josh10014> that's pretty odd
<gargan> indeed
<gargan> im just wondering if i can narrow it down a little by finding out what kinds of things cause it to do that
<gargan> her hard drive was making click of doom, so i replaced it and imaged her old drive over
<josh10014> i cant think of anything
<gargan> even when i have it set to not automatically restart on errors
<Webbie> This is odd
<square> yes, you are.
<Webbie> 4 of my hds are in, so i had to do P-ata and S-Ata, now all my hds are showing up but my damn cd drives arnt in windows
<bofh`> incompetence
<Azs> hahahaha
<Webbie> so damn anooying
<Webbie> *annoying

<JohnK> anyone?
<Webbie> hmm now why would all my hds will show, the 2 S-Ata and 2 Ide HD's but not my 2 CD drives
<Webbie> grr
<gargan> JohnK: go to network connections
<gargan> right click on the connection you want and go to properties
<gargan> at the bottom of the window that comes up are two checkboxes which are self explanatory
<JohnK> they are both checked gargan
<JohnK> and still nothing
<JohnK> like Microsoft AntiSpyware and Antivirus are running but not in the tray.... even when I minimize mIRC... it used to go to the tray... but now nothing.
