<brain0> argh
<brain0> did you know that the arch vnc package is screwed?
<shastry> nope i never done any vnc
<brain0> I have
<brain0> but not for a long time
<brain0> now vncserver claims that Xvnc is missing (which is absolutely true)
<sml> guys .. i am trying to mount a cd with hfs or hfsplus
<sml> but
<sml> mount: unknown filesystem type 'hfs'.
<qball> modprobe hfs?
<sml> FATAL: Module hfs not found.
<sml> good idea though :)
<sml> priyank might know the answer!?
<sml> maybe not!
<priyank> lol
<d3wd3> are any core archlinux developers ever present here ?
<priyank> sml: is ur kernel compiled with hfs support ?
<Blaasvis> d3wd3, well i am of these guys
<sml> default arch kernel
<sml> how can we check?
<priyank> umm dunn
<Blaasvis> sml, zcat /proc/config.gz | grep HFS
<lowercase> WillySilly: how did you burn the zeta live cd?
<sml> CONFIG_NET_SCH_HFSC=m
<sml> # CONFIG_HFS_FS is not set
<sml> # CONFIG_HFSPLUS_FS is not set
<d3wd3> Blaasvis: stupid question, if i do ftp install, will it use anything from the cd ? i mean, will i have devfs in fstab or udev ?
<sml> hmm .. that doesnt look good!
<lowercase> cdrecord allows only one file in a cue file
<Blaasvis> d3wd3, you can easily change it, even if it is getting set
<Blaasvis> i am far from sure if it will happen :+
<sml> Blaasvis .. thanks .. i just need to get data off one CD .. is the easiest solution just to boot up Suse live or knoppix?
<sml> how are you anyway priyank?
<Blaasvis> dunno :P
<sml> http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=3546&highlight=hfsplus
<sml> back soon guys
<lowercase> d3wd3: Judd (apeiro) is always in here :-P
<d3wd3> oh cool
<lowercase> bbl, trying zeta live cd and knoppix 4.0.2
<shastry> d3wd3: there are lots of others..
<shastry> as you know, like all communities, there are sort of 4 parts.. 1- forum ppl, 2 -irc ppl, 3 - forum+irc, 4- nothing :P
<d3wd3> holy crap, gaim crashed
<shastry> d3wd3: use irssi
<shastry> or something other than gaim
<Echelon-H> I've edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf and when I "startx" I dont have any hebrew.
<d3wd3> shastry: i can't make it to blend in well with xorg/kde
<d3wd3> http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=425&slide=25
<d3wd3> that's so beautiful, i want that :/
<shastry> dude thats openbox
<shastry> if you didnt know ;P
<shastry> d3wd3: and fbpanel
<d3wd3> shastry: well i'd want a desktop like that on kde, or at least that openbox/fbpanel combo already built into a package
<d3wd3> i don't feel like spending tiem building it
<svinklaptop> you can test ans ping ferdinand.ath.cx see my dyndns it's ok ?
<svinklaptop> you can test and ping ferdinand.ath.cx see if my dyndns it's ok ?
<d3wd3> 84.4.2.20 it's ok
<svinklaptop> cool
<svinklaptop> ddclient it's good to arch64
<lowercase> re
<thunderwolf318> is there a way to block a singel program from useing the internet?
<lowercase> thunderwolf318: of course.
<thunderwolf318> and how would you do thid magic?
<lowercase> with the magical iptables
<timmy> tada.wav
<dadexter> morning
<lowercase> ah, the evil slack user
<dadexter> where? where?!?!
<lowercase> ;-P
<dadexter> oh wait... ya that's me
<dadexter> :P
<lowercase> dadexter: the linux included in slackware 10.2 is weird
<dadexter> the wha included in slackware?
<dadexter> the kernel?
<lowercase> dadexter: no support for the frigging nic of my work desktop and no xfs support :/
<thunderwolf318> the linux included in slackware he said
<lowercase> dadexter: linux is a kernel, right :-P
<lowercase> or, an OS
<dadexter> what's the nic on the laptop?
<dadexter> oh wait
<dadexter> it's still based on 2.4
<lowercase> some sundance chip
<lowercase> dadexter: i used test26.s
<dadexter> strange, I used a sundance without any problems
<dadexter> lowercase: really?
<dadexter> odd
<lowercase> yes
<dadexter> I used to use a sundance (dfe530txs or something) without any problems
<dadexter> or 538
<lowercase> it just didn't work, and there was no sundance module... i also thought it was odd, because slack normally just works[tm]
<dadexter> lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/net/sundance.o.gz
<dadexter> something was odd with your install me thinks
<dadexter> were you missing anything else?
<lowercase> dadexter: possible, i'll just build my own kernel when i have the time
<dadexter> and there is xfsprogs there
<dadexter> never saw if it was in the 10.2 install, I upgraded from 10.1
<lowercase> hrm
<lowercase> it's just that i couldn't mount my usb stick (xfs)
<dadexter> your USB stick is xfs?????
<lowercase> yes, i know it's kinda stupid. just wnated to know how it performs ;D
<dadexter> you're strange :P
<dadexter> mine is vfat... I use it at work on winboxes
<lowercase> gonna switch to ext3
<gonffen> you should make it fat :P that way you can use it in windows
<lowercase> vfat is t3h worst
<gonffen> maybe, but ti works, and windows plays nice
<dadexter> gonffen: if the guy never uses it on windows machines
<dadexter> if I didn't need to use it on windows @ work, I'd reiserfs it
<gonffen> you never know when you're going to need to be able to use somethign on a windows box
<lowercase> i don't want to put an encrypted container(ext3) on this nasty vfat :/
<dadexter> lowercase: hehe
<dadexter> lowercase: only reason I use vfat is work... not because I like it... and I hate ntfs even more
<dadexter> I never actually use my usb drive at home, unless I really have too
<d3wd3> umm.. i want to make a package... but one of its dependencies is not in the repo.. what would the user do ?
<lowercase> dadexter: well, it's 100% m$ over there, and then i need to transfer some **** i just use the stick from my boss
<d3wd3> install the dependencies manually by pacman -A package.tar.gz ?
<gonffen> d3wd3: sounds like you'll need to make a package for that too
<lowercase> d3wd3: make a package of the dependency aswell
<gonffen> you could make a custom repo for them to install it from
<dadexter> lowercase: my work documents are on my usb drive, I use it 5 days a week, 8 hours a day
<dadexter> + a few mp3's :P
<d3wd3> that's what i'm doing, making a package for the dependency..
<d3wd3> but it would have to be manually installed before the program :/
<gonffen> OR you could make a custom repo, that includes both
<dadexter> d3wd3: you could
<gonffen> and oh my god! pacman will download and install it for them!
<dadexter> err... what gonffen said! :P
<lowercase> dadexter: okay, so i'd say you're ****ed because your forced to use vfat... poor little dadexter :-P
<gonffen> yes it's the second time dadexter :P it's getting quite annoying
<dadexter> lowercase: yes *snif*
<dadexter> get out of my head
<d3wd3> well it's not nice to make a big package containing all the dependencies, right ?
<dadexter> d3wd3: no, 1 pkg per dep
<lowercase> d3wd3: of course not
<gonffen> I don't think you can d3wd3
<gonffen> you make a DEOPISTORY
<d3wd3> sure i can :)
<gonffen> do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?
<d3wd3> depository ?
<gonffen> in said DEPOSITORY, you put the package and all it's DEPENDANCIES
<gonffen> okay so you don't understand
<dadexter> gonffen: man nobody understands the words coming out of your mouth!
<gonffen> pacman has 3 main depostioires
<gonffen> 1 sec while I check the names lol
<lowercase> repository* ?
<d3wd3> well i want to make a package for this cvs program.. but it has 2 custom dependencies, i mean libs created by the authors of the program
<d3wd3> and only one of them is in the arch repository
