<sgmihai> yeah, just select a mirror
<sgmihai> not at all
<sgmihai> just try to download from a mirror and copy the url
<tsp> ok
<tsp> damn edbrowse is crap
<lowercase> tsp: no, it's actually rather simple, dl.sourceforge.net should work :/
<stonecrest> actually, you want to use dl.sourceforget.net, not an actual mirror
<tsp> how?
<sgmihai> what do you guys use as an audio player ?
<stonecrest> mpd
<tdoor> amarok
<tsp> audio player? mplayer, but not under arch since it needs x - gonna hack the pkgbuild later
<tsp> never know - I might not use arch - but if I can stick wiwth it and it doesn't fail me then I"m getting rid of gentoo
<tdoor> since i use amarok, my life is one big neverending party
<tsp> what's amarok?
<lowercase> tsp: some bloated gui program :/
<tdoor> a music player for kde
<tdoor> lowercase: pah, you tried it?
<tsp> oh got the dl.sourceforge.net thing
<lowercase> tsp: you might stick with mpd/mpc
<lowercase> tdoor: yes, i tried it for a week
<Andares> Hey
<syamajala> cool
<tsp> lowercase: what's mpd/mpc?
<tsp> lowercase: does PKGBUILD need to be all uppercase?
<syamajala> i found an ok background
<lowercase> tsp: musicpd.org
<stonecrest> music player daemon/music player control. it's -great- for audio
<lowercase> tsp: the actual file, yes
<tsp> it is?
<tdoor> i think amarok is very nice, because it's not bloated, it's the fastest kde program i've ever seen, and the plugins are so nice, and it supports my ipod
<tsp> can it play mp3s/oggs?
<stonecrest> tsp: of course
<paniq> how do i get the current gateway listed?
<tsp> can mpc rewind/fastforward?
<lowercase> tsp: yes, and flac, mod and so forth
<tsp> cool!
<tsp> I'm installing it atm
<lowercase> paniq: route ?
<stonecrest> tsp: there's a nice ncurses cli frontend for it too.. ncmpc
<paniq> ah!
<paniq> thx
<paniq> and what is the best way to detect the network hardware on my system?
<paniq> is there a good tool for AL?
<stonecrest> lshwd?
<tdoor> paniq: hwd
<tdoor> paniq: you have something to do with the musician paniq?
<lowercase> HAH
<lowercase> tdoor: he _THE_ paniq
<lowercase> the high and mighty :D
<dagnachew> Xlib: connection to "localhost:0.0" refused by server
<dagnachew> Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
<dagnachew> Error: Can't open display: :0.0
<tdoor> lowercase: wtf?
<aficiona1o_away> tsp: hmm... so how I can access the info pages?
<tsp> what hte hell!
<lowercase> +is.. my bad
<tsp> why does either lynx or links need gpm
<tsp> I mean come on
<tsp> lol
<tsp> oh well, its small
<stonecrest> what's gpm?
<syamajala> its a mouse thing
<paniq> okay
<svinklaptop> when i do a reboot ... the system shut down then zero nada
<paniq> lets say the detected network module is sis900
<paniq> do i have to add sis900 to rc.conf and alias eth0 sis900 to modprobe.conf?
<svinklaptop> black image in panel
<svinklaptop> no bip
<tdoor> paniq: you are a demoscener?
<paniq> yes
<tsp> hmm
<paniq> www.paniq.org is me
<tsp> do I have to get the damn md5sums for every pkgbuild I create?
<tdoor> i like your music
<paniq> i'm right now getting arch linux for paniq.org to work
<paniq> or at least i'm trying to
<tdoor> nice
<paniq> its a remote server, so its quite easy to mess it up
<tsp> I'm not sure how I can amke sure a pkgbuild works without poluting my filesystem
<paniq> paniq lets say the detected network module is sis900
<paniq> paniq do i have to add sis900 to rc.conf and alias eth0 sis900 to modprobe.conf?
<paniq> i have only one try
<paniq> so please help me with this
<paniq> if i **** this up, i cant access the pc till monday.
<paniq> tdoor: thank you
<tsp> tdoor: how did you create pkgbuilds? did you get the md5s manually?
<lowercase> tsp: makepkg -g >> PKGBUILD
<tdoor> tdoor: well i dont create pkgbuilds often, but if i do it, i get them manually
<lowercase> tsp: this will generate the md5sums and put them at the end of the PKGBUILD.
<tsp> lets see - ./configure --prefix=/blah - so I can see if anything's going to go in libexec
<tsp> then it should install into /blah
<stonecrest> paniq: i dont have anything about alias eth0 in my modprobe.conf, just have my network module in rc.conf..
<dagnachew> Xlib: connection to "localhost:0.0" refused by server
<lowercase> ypp***wdd_daemons - in ascii
<paniq> stonecrest: hows the line where you have it?
<stonecrest> paniq: in rc.conf..?
<paniq> yes
<paniq> is it like MODULES=(sis900) ?
<tdoor> yep
<stonecrest> yup.. MODULES=(eepro100 usbhid ndiswrapper yenta_socket uhci_hcd snd-es1968 snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-seq-oss)
<sgmihai> what's a good ip settings changer for x ?
<stonecrest> eepro100 is my network
<paniq> allright.
<paniq> so be it.
<tsp> stonecrest: you don't need the -oss ones - alsa should pull them auto
<paniq> i think the error i made last time was that i forgot to enter a gateway
<stonecrest> tsp: i dunno, i just did what the alsa faq told me to do :)
<tsp> oh
<tsp> stonecrest: and the usbhid?
<tsp> doesn't uhci-hcd pull that in?
<tdoor> paniq: is you setting up a new server, why i cant download stuff from your site
<paniq> yep
<Shadowhand> tsp, snd-pcm-oss has to be loaded before other module though
<paniq> thats the reason
<tdoor> ah i see ;)
<paniq> at the moment you can only reach my DSL connection :)
<stonecrest> tsp: i honestly don't remember why i added usbhid or what it's for. heh
<tdoor> arrrrr
<paniq> the old webserver was running apache on suse 9.0
<paniq> the new one will be running lighttpd on arch linux
<stonecrest> paniq: make sure you have the right settings in rc.conf for eth0 and INTERFACES, etc..
<paniq> yes i think i have them correct
<paniq> lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
<paniq> eth0="eth0 62.75.222.204"
<paniq> INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
<paniq> gateway="default gw 62.75.222.1"
<paniq> ROUTES=(gateway)
<tsp> paniq: don't forget your gateway
<paniq> allright
<paniq> i think thats it
<paniq> i'm going to reboot.
<tdoor> ^^
<stonecrest> paniq: we'll see you in a couple days
<stonecrest> ;)
<paniq> well its just the server
<paniq> i'm on my dsl account
<stonecrest> oh.
<stonecrest> we'll see your server in a couple days?
<paniq> :)
