<Shadowhand> tsp, the community doesn't speculate on release dates
<paniq> tsp, i have no access to the server
<tsp> paniq: oh, you can't reboot and specify what you want to boot
<paniq> there is a rescue system but it fails
<stonecrest> tsp: it doesn't matter for you. just pacman -Syu and you have the latest release
<paniq> its not reliable
<paniq> last time it required a manual reset
<paniq> well
<paniq> here goes nothing.
<Shadowhand> tsp, it's likely that 0.8 will be released sometime early 2006
<Shadowhand> possibly right around the new year
<dirty> man xmltv dependencies are ridiculous, i think i understand why they took it out of the repo
<qball> gmpc packages here?
<Shadowhand> but that's pure speculation
<dirty> qball: yes sir :D
<tsp> why does gnupg need so much crap?
<paniq> wait a minute
<stonecrest> crap in, crap out
<tsp> Targets: heimdal-0.7.1-1 cyrus-sasl-2.1.21-2 openldap-2.2.28-2 gnupg-1.4.2-1
<paniq> can i install the grub boot images on a 80gb partition?
<tsp> paniq: not sure
<qball> dirty: I am implementing plugins in gmpc, so the stuff depending gnome-vfs or f.e. libnotify can be seperate... this will help you?
<tsp> lol that's the one advantage I see in gentoo - you don't have to have alot of crap
<tsp> but arch has way faster install times for packages
<qball> tsp?
<dirty> qball: ill be sure to add plug-ins to the community repository :)
<tsp> qball: what/
<lowercase> tsp: create your own gnupkg package, then.
<lowercase> gnupg*
<tsp> oh
<qball> well next release, but I thought I would get some users happy. because they can use gmpc withouth gnome-vfs if they want....
<qball> tsp: I found that gentoo always needed alot of stuff.
<stonecrest> yeah.. you can use abs to get gnupkg's PKGBUILD and then modify it however you want
<dirty> tsp: theres no way around the xmltv deps
<qball> but Iused it a long time agoo.
<tsp> hmm
<tsp> gnupg is cool
<tsp> but mutt is out of date
<tsp> I want 1.5.x :)
<tsp> oh I can screw with the pkgbuild
<tsp> how more recent is the unstable branch?
<WillySilly> hey cactus
<cactus> hey
<syamajala> its like cvs builds
<syamajala> ;-p
<syamajala> i can't get adesklets to work
<tsp> can someone ls -l /usr/bin/slocate and tell me what group it belongs to
<tsp> it says 245 on mine
<cactus> ****. my server 200 miles away is not responding.
<cactus> :(
<stonecrest> the group is slocate, it seems
<cactus> at least i just got wpa working with my wireless
<dirty> qball: do you think there will be icecast integration with gmpc?
<sgmihai> what's the fastest/easiest to configure ftp server ?
<syamajala> sftp
<dirty> qball: like how many listeners etc?
<sgmihai> sftp ?
<qball> dirty: it's possible with the plugin support yes
<dirty> qball: that would be so sweet
<qball> dirty: let me show example screeny
<dirty> cool :D
<qball> dirty: http://images.qballcow.nl/gmpc-pl3-plugin.png
<sgmihai> syamajala: something that's in pacman repo
<syamajala> sftp uses ssh
<qball> dirty: http://images.qballcow.nl/gmpc-pref-plugin.png <-- it's quiet far... but pref has to be rewritten.
<qball> dirty: I also have a libnotify plugin and a xosd plugin (to test the system)
<sgmihai> syamajala: something in the arch repo.. fast to configure.. just need to access the linux usernames on ftp
<syamajala> omfg
<syamajala> there is a package for sftp its called ssh.
<dirty> qball: wow
<tsp> what's gmpc? is it a mpd client?
<dirty> qball: theres so many things that could be done with plug-ins like that
<lowercase> tsp: yes
<syamajala> i'm still trying to figure out whats wrong with adesklets
<syamajala> it doesn't do anything when i run it
<syamajala> i created a .adesklets and stuf
<qball> dirty: yep... moving the online stream browser and the custom stream browser (need better names) to plugins aswell.
<WillySilly> dirty: the video on flumotion should be working
<WillySilly> :\
<WillySilly> pngdec is in gst-plugins
<tsp> ok - I pacman'd acpid, but there isn't a /etc/rc.acpid
<dirty> WillySilly: i tried for a few hours to get theora working with icecast
<tsp> oh there it is
<dirty> i wasnt able to stream anything from a v4l device :(
<qball> dirty: I need to find a "nice" way to make it all happen, some plugins go very deep into gmpc..
<qball> but I am getting there
<WillySilly> dirty: turning off overlay should make the video work
<WillySilly> but it doesnt
<dirty> damn
<dirty> qball: i think youve got the perfect approach
<qball> dirty: I hope
<dirty> qball: do you know Aaron Bockover? the guy who did the mpcstick?
<qball> dirty: f.e. the libnotify plugin needs the tray-icon widget to place itself...
<qball> dirty: yeah, I need to contact him.
<qball> for a plugin :D
<dirty> no joke! lol
<dirty> i think thats what he was hoping for
<qball> let me mail him, I should have an old e-mail here somewhere
<dirty> http://aaronbock.net/software/mpcstick/ thats the site it has listed
<tsp> it works!!!
<qball> he mailed me about it a long time agoo.
<qball> dirty: gmpc is quiet old, I have screenshots of 2003 :D
<tsp> I noww have my power button instantly toggling mpc from play to pause and back
<dirty> i didnt find out about mpd until last year :P
<stonecrest> tsp: :)
<tsp> how many presses of hte power button will it take before it gets unusable?
<tsp> like the button falls off or something
<stonecrest> tsp: seven.
<tsp> heh
<qball> dirty: it's almost a year ago I got the last e-mail of aaron
<tsp> mpd is dead
<tsp> hasn't been worked on in like 8 months
<tsp> unless I heard something worng
<dirty> ...
<tsp> musicd.org - the update date
<dirty> its quite alive i ***ure you
<dirty> i just checked the svn yesterday and found some aweomse new features
<tsp> oh
<stonecrest> tsp: try musicpd.org instead ;)
<stonecrest> md != mpd
<tsp> oh that wast he site
<tsp> was
<tsp> hmm
<dirty> md is music daemon?
<tsp> I wish I could pull the wire right out of my reset button
<qball> dirty: I e-mailed him.
<tsp> since I rarely ever use it and don't wnat to hit it accidently while pausing my music player with power
<tsp> is there a speech recognition program for the console?
<tsp> so I can tell my computer pause and it will pause
<tsp> like I can under blows
<gonffen> how about the pause key eh?
<dirty> qball: sweet
<tdoor> i tried mpd and currently did pacman -R amarok
<dirty> qball: do you plan on having a plug-in repository of some kind?
<gonffen> e
<netron> http://www.sixspace.com/gallery/invader2005/preview/mariodiv.jpg
<qball> tsp: mpd isn't dead yet, but development slowed down.. but the svn version now has native alsa/oss/sun/macOsX outputs, has more advanced quering of the db. (that gmpc uses when connected to development version). and more
<qball> multiple outputs etc..
<tsp> neat!
<qball> dirty: yep, but it's very new.. but it's a very good idea.
<tsp> qball: do you happen to have two machines with a microphone and speakers?
<tsp> I've got a cool voip thing that ****s but it works
<qball> tsp: yeah I have..
<stonecrest> it's cool and it ****s.. heh
<qball> dirty: I hope aaron is still interrested.
<dirty> im sure he is
<tsp> from machine 1: arecord -fcd | speexenc - - | ssh machine2 ./speexdec -
<tsp> same on machine2 back to machine1
<qball> lol.
<dirty> he looked like he invested a lot of time and wants to see it utilized :P
