<SleepyDog> Mailing List
<AqD> hmmm
<AqD> all right i'm going to try corel wordperfect again
<AqD> but i know it wont work :(
<AqD> ahhhh!!!!
<AqD> why do nobody make good office suite for linux???
<SleepyDog> I think LaTeX is good for word processing, but Openoffice was good enough last time I tried it
<dagnachew> c14n in the house
<AqD> SleepyDog: but i want word compatibility
<dagnachew> hello everyone
<SleepyDog> Openoffice was good enough last time I
<AqD> SleepyDog: and it can't handle big files well
<AqD> SleepyDog: i was using v 2 built myself!
<AqD> hi dagnachew!!
<dtw> dagnachew: are you c14n then?
<dagnachew> hello AqD
<AqD> SleepyDog: 1.it can't do quick-save
<dagnachew> nope
<dagnachew> hello dettow
<SleepyDog> What's quick-save?
<AqD> that sux for my 30MB .odt
<dagnachew> dtw
<AqD> SleepyDog: to save only the changes u make
<dtw> yup?
<AqD> rather than to create a new file
<SleepyDog> ah
<AqD> it's *critical* for huge files we work with
<SleepyDog> What, are you writing a book or something?
<dagnachew> AqD diff
<AqD> writing manual for app we make
<AqD> dagnachew: i hope so!
<AqD> SleepyDog: it has about 300 pages
<dagnachew> AqD lyx
<SleepyDog> :o
<AqD> dagnachew: not compatible
<SleepyDog> dagnachew: lyx is kinda...weird
<AqD> SleepyDog: yes it's basically a book... a huge set of books that can fil up a big box
<AqD> they dont like on-line docs, dunno why
<AqD> silly ancient apes, uh
<dagnachew> AqD you want a gui ? if not vi !!!!!!!!!! is the answer
<AqD> dagnachew: buddy those books need to have pictures
<dagnachew> ancient apes :)
<AqD> and drawings
<SleepyDog> AqD: scary! You guys should use pdf & tex :\. Your company uses windows?
<AqD> yes
<AqD> SleepyDog: yes but it would be hard for most windows users to edit then
<AqD> SleepyDog: u can't tell them to learn
<SleepyDog> hehe
<SleepyDog> I wonder, if one knew neither, which would be easier to learn.
<AqD> lyx
<AqD> lyx is easier
<SleepyDog> lyx is terrible
<AqD> eh?!
<AqD> no ****??
<dtw> Just discovered my email service has changed tehir rule settings and OR kicjed in and was marking my ML messages read
<AqD> i used it once many years ago
<SleepyDog> Well, I didn't like it
<AqD> heh
<dagnachew> lyx can handle I think huge files
<SleepyDog> I just use a plain text editor. You only have to memorize a handful of TeX tags. And you can split up documents into different files
<AqD> SleepyDog: how do u add picturs then?
<AqD> and textbox on pictures
<SleepyDog> AqD: some tag or the other. Dunno it offhand
<AqD> hmmm
<SleepyDog> It's like html for print
<SleepyDog> Okay, must be gone for awhile to do stuff
<AqD> hmmm
