<libero> BobtheAvenger: it depends on the used operations <BobtheAvenger> ok <BobtheAvenger> thanks <libero> BobtheAvenger: signed/unsigned vars have different sizes <BobtheAvenger> yer <libero> BobtheAvenger: cause you're missing one bit of the sign in the singed vars <zoly> Ibkhair <libero> zoly: qasdi mneen? <BobtheAvenger> i undertand that, i was trying to understand the effect of typedefs on asm <libero> BobtheAvenger: yeah. for example <zoly> that arab word should have been the translation of "eel" btw <libero> BobtheAvenger: if your compiler use shift left for multiply by two, it has to use the correct asm instruction that would keep the sign for signed vars <BobtheAvenger> ok <zoly> if eel is translatable. try to translate "sunburn" to an ennui <libero> zoly: huh? <libero> zoly: you're using an auto translator? :D <zoly> i didn't happen to know the arab word for "eel" thus i had to look it up <BobtheAvenger> libero: so the typedef only affects what the compiler does with the code? <libero> BobtheAvenger: i blieve so. not 100% sure <BobtheAvenger> ok <BobtheAvenger> thats what i suspected, but i wasnt sure <libero> zoly: well, Arabic is very complicated to use an auto translator for :) <BobtheAvenger> auto translators have crossed my too many times <BobtheAvenger> like isometric paper <libero> hehe <libero> well, the thing is we have cl***ic arabic; which i ***ume the translator is working on, but we don't speak it in our daily life <libero> it's only for official docs <libero> newspapers <libero> televesion <libero> that sort of thing <BobtheAvenger> abit like "queens english"? <libero> and we have another 10s of different accents <libero> BobtheAvenger: yes mate <BobtheAvenger> kwl <libero> and those different accents aren't written <libero> they have no rules <libero> and new words come into them all the time <BobtheAvenger> lol, i end up using 3 or 4 different dialects of english every day <libero> you simply can't write them; cause they are rubbish :) <BobtheAvenger> ok <libero> BobtheAvenger: where do you live? <BobtheAvenger> london <libero> i c <libero> i'm in Hemel Hempstead <BobtheAvenger> kwl <BobtheAvenger> i'm in north london <libero> where about? <BobtheAvenger> between the A406 n M25 <BobtheAvenger> i'm about 2 roads up from the A406 <libero> uhaa <BobtheAvenger> north circular <libero> yeah; quite close form hemel <BobtheAvenger> its annoying cos most my mates are hackney/islington but i'm edmonoton <libero> well, hackeny is a bit rough :) <BobtheAvenger> basically, if u find the road that goes past liverpool street, thats my road <libero> hehe; know that <libero> used to live in westham <BobtheAvenger> kool <libero> so know all those areas <BobtheAvenger> you know edmonton? <libero> yeah <BobtheAvenger> kool <BobtheAvenger> i'm there <libero> not quite well though <libero> i have friends in Northolt <BobtheAvenger> thats abit further round i think <libero> yeah, to the west <BobtheAvenger> yer <BobtheAvenger> i wanna move out tho <libero> me too <libero> going to Aylesbury <BobtheAvenger> but i wont beable to survive without adults to buy beer for me <Robert> Heh. <libero> uhaaaaaaaaaaa <libero> :D <libero> tell me about it <BobtheAvenger> and i'm completely skint and have no job <BobtheAvenger> i cant even afford a cardboard box in hackney/dalston <libero> studying? <BobtheAvenger> altho edmonton has cheeper houseing and more council stuff <BobtheAvenger> i got GCSEs in 6months <libero> looking for a uni? <BobtheAvenger> looking to not get thrown out before AS levels <libero> i didn't study highschool here <libero> so don't know a lot about how it goes :) <BobtheAvenger> ok <BobtheAvenger> well they want me 2 get 6As and the deputy head has it in for me <libero> kewl, hope you get them <BobtheAvenger> thanks <BobtheAvenger> i'm least likely to even p*** english <libero> :) <libero> ain't english your first language? <BobtheAvenger> yer <BobtheAvenger> but i'm dylexic and when i was tought to read it was at its worst <BobtheAvenger> so i'm significalty behind everyone else in english <libero> uha <libero> what subjects do they study here in english? <BobtheAvenger> i was forced into eglish literature and language <BobtheAvenger> *english <libero> should be fine <libero> it's much worse in arabic, i have to say <BobtheAvenger> i did a mock eglish, i've never seen so many zeros <libero> we have to study ancient and modern literature + poetry <BobtheAvenger> like latin? <libero> well, sort of non-used vocab <BobtheAvenger> ok <libero> the problem isn't in the vocab only <BobtheAvenger> i'm doing latin GCSE <libero> cause in arabic, we use metaphors all the time <libero> so one sentence can have 10 different meanings <libero> so you've got to study the history of that time so you can imagine what they're tallking about <BobtheAvenger> cool <BobtheAvenger> you get that in latin literature too <BobtheAvenger> you doing/did compsci at uni? <libero> and cl***ic arabic poetry is gorgeous <libero> yeah, "did" <BobtheAvenger> cool <BobtheAvenger> i'd like to do like a compsci Alevel if theres one about <libero> yeah, should be easy for you :) <BobtheAvenger> why? <libero> i can't imagine it being that difficult <BobtheAvenger> true <libero> i've seen some ppl taking "IT" in GCSE and that was trivial <BobtheAvenger> dont get me started on that <libero> hehe <BobtheAvenger> its the biggest waste of time for anyone who wants to do any computing stuff <libero> you get that subject for grades :D <libero> hehe <BobtheAvenger> i dont do it <BobtheAvenger> my mate does tho <BobtheAvenger> its basically an M$ certification course <libero> i think you have two subjects, is that right? <libero> yeah, but very easy though <SorcererX> eww <SorcererX> I'm glad my University doesn't do *ANY* m$-specific stuff <BobtheAvenger> he's trying to get himself thrown off the course i think <BobtheAvenger> most unis use JAVA when they do programming in compsci courses now? <SorcererX> seems so. <libero> my uni used pascal :) <libero> now they use C in my uni <SorcererX> atleast for Object Oriented programming courses. <BobtheAvenger> C and asm are my favourite languages adm <libero> yeah, we studied C++ and Java for OOP <libero> and ASM for computer arch. <BobtheAvenger> why do newer OO languages not have multiple inheritance? <libero> i think now they give C# courses too <libero> well, Java for newbies isn't easy, i have to say <BobtheAvenger> i had someone trying to convince me that "C# kicks ***" <libero> apart from being easy or not, it wouldn't help a lot to understand computers <BobtheAvenger> its good for demonstarting like ideas
Return to asm or Go to some related
