<SpudULike> Help with knotes please. Where can I find the text portion of notes made with knotes. I had ***umed it would be under .kde/share/apps/knotes/notes but I can only see what appears to be config files.
<antgel> hi all. have a kubuntu box installed for my parents. not happy with stability and bugs but then i'm spoilt with my box which is debian / windowmaker. given that they couldn't give a toss about newness, will they have a better experience with debian stable kde as opposed to kubuntu kde?
<antgel> put another way, is it likely that flakiness is more an ubuntu trait or a kde trait?

<SpudULike> I'm still looking for the text portion of some knotes. Am I right in thinking this does appear as text or is it hidden away encrypted somewhere. I'm not exactly sure what version of KDE was used but it would have been part of either Suse 9.2 or Kubuntu 5.04.

<SpudULike> canllaith: Thanks for that, I see it's 'hidden' with a load of formatting info. I was struggling to see the file by simple point and click methods, doing a right click on the file would give me the chance to fire up Kate, but the editor was just showing an empty file. Any idea why that would have happened?
<canllaith> I really don't know I'm afraid. If you look for where KDE hides information though best to use a terminal I find :)
<willie> hi just loaded 3.5 beta and I need to roll back -- the soundserver is crashing constantly -not in itself a total disaster but I cant get anything done because of the crash windows that keep popping up

<willie> KDE started with a artsd crash message. This happemns occaisionally and I thought nothing of it. I have on board Via AC97 sound btw.
<willie> used it successfully for a few mins and chatted on iRC , poked about a bit. Went into System settings to try to restart sound. After I looked in there I kept getting lots of artsd has crashed typewindows

<willie> canllaith: restarted alsa and KDE - artsd no longer crashes - xmms works just fine BUT in SyStem Settings|sound I get a dialog saying 'unable to start sound system to retrieve possible sound i/o metods. only auto detection available
<willie> If I persist and try to adjust settings the sound server progress bar just ciontinously loops tpo 100% and back
