<Spum> That was called the "information paradox"
<HPS`Fresh> Spum what do you mean?
<Skrot> Spum: I'm using an updated debian unstable system, should at least have new libs ;)
<Spum> I mean, that at one point , steven hawking thought that in the vertexes within black holes, information dissapeared
<Spum> Hmm, heh
<Spum> I dont know, mayhbe the software is screwy? Updated from CVS? or ... ?
<koala_man> Spum: and this supports your theory of absolutely provable facts how?
<HPS`Fresh> Spum no :) what do you mean saying "say it again"
<Skrot> Spum: It uses Lame, right, and Lame is version 3.96.1
<Skrot> Might have to do with the fact that I ripped with VBR
<Spum> Ah
<Spum> shoulda bloody told me :-P
<Spum> koala_man, it proves it yes because people are the factor in error
<Spum> :-P
<Spum> Watch the matrix - He said that even at less than 1% human error, there is always the chance in every equation of failure
<HPS`Fresh> checking for KDE... configure: error:
<HPS`Fresh> in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
<HPS`Fresh> So, check this please and use another prefix!
<HPS`Fresh> what pkg i need to install?
<madpenguin8> --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
<koala_man> Spum: how do you know that the laws in the universe aren't constantly changing?
<madpenguin8> try that configure flag
<HPS`Fresh> and prefix is..?
<madpenguin8> where your kde is installed
<madpenguin8> just use that flag exactly as it is
<HPS`Fresh> madpenguin8 i run configure.. will see. and /usr/includes/kde is probably this one... isn`t it?
<HPS`Fresh> checking for KDE... configure: error:
<HPS`Fresh> in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
<HPS`Fresh> So, check this please and use another prefix!
<madpenguin8> HPS`Fresh: what is your configure command?
<madpenguin8> and you may need devel packages
<HPS`Fresh> yes... i think i need kde dev pkg, but i don`t know how it calls :)
<HPS`Fresh> kde-dev?
<oGALAXYo> well take all except gnome-dev :)
<Skrot> Depends on your distro, doesn't it?
<madpenguin8> kdelibs-devel kdebase-devel etc
<HPS`Fresh> deb 3.1
<Skrot> kdelibs4-dev
<shik45> whats a good way for me to try the 3.5 Beta without messing up my stable system
<Skrot> Compile it with konstruct on a new user
<madpenguin8> install it beside your current install
<HPS`Fresh> Skrot what does "4" ?
<shik45> madpenguin8: how would i procede on doing this in Debain
<Skrot> HPS`Fresh: In debian-world, 4=3
<madpenguin8> iDunno
<benJIman> anyone know if there's a way to run a script on logout with kde?
<madpenguin8> ??(~)-> ls -l /usr/kde
<madpenguin8> total 12
<madpenguin8> drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4096 Oct 21 21:50 3.4
<madpenguin8> drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 Oct 21 19:12 3.5
<HPS`Fresh> Skrot hm... can you tell me more about this mathimatic?
<HPS`Fresh> :)
<Skrot> HPS`Fresh: nope :)
<shik45> Skrot: whats konstruct
<Skrot> shik45: A script that compiles KDE for you
<shik45> where would i abtain this SkiffX
<Skrot> It get the sources, (some of) the dependencies etc
<shik45> Skrot
<Skrot> http://developer.kde.org/build/konstruct/
<HPS`Fresh> Good - your configure finished. Start make now
<HPS`Fresh> ha! i`m greatest hacker in da world!!!
<HPS`Fresh> Skrot well.. you too :)
<HPS`Fresh> thanks guys :)
<shik45> Skrot: what are the changes Kicker and is there a media applet?
<Skrot> There is a media applet, yes. Pops up every time I insert a media
<shik45> Skrot: is there a media controller applet for like Kaffiene or Amarok
<Skrot> Not sure I understand what you mean :)
<zreisman> whats a good server for mp3
<Skrot> You can select to play CDs with it, e.g open audio-cd's in amaroK
<jhutchins> Oh, that's cute. KAddress book puts an "SMS" link next to mobile numbers. If you click it, you get a text entry box. Click the "Send" button, and it tells you "No Application Set is configured, please go to Settings", but there's no setting for SMS.
<frb> there is a media controller applet
<frb> it might be on kde-apps instead of in kicker by default though
<aseigo> frb: i believe it's in kdeaddons
<pinotree> jhutchins: in kaddressbook settings, general page, there's script hooks and then SMS
<aseigo> zreisman: server as in you want to stream mp3's?
<zreisman> ya, i wasnt clear
<frb> icecast
<Spum> haha
<Spum> Nice jhutchins :-P
<_knoppix> hello
<firefly> hi
<idiot401> hello
<firefly> where are a list of good(german) irc channels?
<shik45> firefly: go to #kanotix
<setuid_w00t> Is there a way to add a simple volume control to the kde panel?
<setuid_w00t> I added the mixer applet, but it's way more stuff than I want/need in my panel
<pinotree> setuid_w00t: right click on a mixer control you don't want, and choose remove
<setuid_w00t> pinotree: thanks
<setuid_w00t> much better now
<pinotree> np :)
<setuid_w00t> next question. Is it possible to take an instance of konq and move it into a tab in another instance?
<Sho_> setuid_w00t: You can drag tabs from tab bar to tab bar
<Sho_> setuid_w00t: Although it actually just opens a new tab in the target window with the same URL
<Sho_> *URI
<setuid_w00t> ok, cool
<sredna> You can also drag the url from the address bar to the tab bar of another window
<Sho_> or drag a tab on top of another to change the URI
<illogic-al> does anyone know how I would copy a partition on one computer to another (new) HD, making it exactly the same?
<straw> hm, dd ?
<illogic-al> danke sir.
<setuid_w00t> although then the partition remains the same size
<illogic-al> I'll look into that.
<oGALAXYo> illissius: typically i would 'tar' it up
<straw> that's true. tar or cpio i suppose
<oGALAXYo> and then untar it again to a new partition
<oGALAXYo> or copy it..
<oGALAXYo> you also defrag the files that way
<oGALAXYo> performance boost
<setuid_w00t> you also can't do this while it's mounted
<setuid_w00t> if it's your OS drive
<illogic-al> tar would copy it to the other hard drive and give it exactly the same drive geometry etc?
<straw> there's probably a 1/2 dozen methods
<illogic-al> I think dd's more what i'm looking for.
<oGALAXYo> illissius: no... maybe you need a ghost like tool
<setuid_w00t> what I mean is that if it's your OS drive, you don't want to be running and OS on it while backing it up
<oGALAXYo> setuid_w00t: its possible
<oGALAXYo> setuid_w00t: i am doing this all the time
<setuid_w00t> oGALAXYo: well it would scare me :)
<oGALAXYo> setuid_w00t: i usually copy th eentire system to a temp dir (except dev and proc) creating these dev and proc entry new and then clean the tempdir up.. then i gonna tar that ones.
<Xatu> hmm... there was a VNC client integrated to KDE or am I wrong?
<illogic-al> Xatu: krdc or krdf
<illogic-al> one of those
<Sho_> krdc
<Erlenmayr> how can i activate mouse gestures in konqueror?
<Erlenmayr> in khotkeys it seems to be activated, but how can i use them?
<sredna> Erlenmayr: Press the left button and gesture
<D3M0N|2> Could someone help me get qt-copy 3.3.4 built? I'm having a lot of trouble building it. I've grabbed it from SVN using "svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/tags/qt/3.3.4/qt-copy" and when I go to compile it I get errors right away
<D3M0N|2> Here's the error: http://rafb.net/paste/results/x329WK21.html
<nemo_work> say. anyone here use mozilla and mplayerplug-in ? (yeah yeah, konqueror rules/use kmplayer||noatun)
<dellan> hi guys
<ilyak_> Hi everyone!
<Pinaraf> nemo_work: why do you ask it here ? mozilla isn't a KDE app, nor is mplayerplugin
<dellan> hi do you like ***
<ilyak_> My konqueror hangs when trying to render slashdot.org.
<musashiden> <_<
<Pinaraf> ilyak_: what version ?
<nemo_work> Pinaraf: because my issue with them is only under KDE
<ilyak_> Some weird memory management error.
<dellan> 62014
<ilyak_> Pinaraf: 3.2, older than time itself.
<nemo_work> Pinaraf: thus, I am looking for KDE users who use them, to see if they have a similar issue
<Pinaraf> New0rder: and what issue do you have ?
<Pinaraf> oosp
<musashiden> hmm, i have a question about konqueror
<Pinaraf> nemo_work: what issue do you have ?
<musashiden> how do i make it so when it opens, it automatically shows google?
<Pinaraf> ilyak_: try with a newer one
<ilyak_> I mean, how to disable javascript for the whole slashdot.org domain?
<musashiden> because i disabled that main KDE screen. and now it shows a blank screen when i open it
