<WEB-XXL^aNdRe> good morning
<chris2> hi
<WEB-XXL^aNdRe> i have a question: my claimAV installation is old but on my backport source are no newer version - what can i do now ?
<chris2> the hostname of my smtp changed recently, so i updated transport, ran postmap on it and... it still uses the old hostname?
<f3ew> postsuper -r ALL
<f3ew> WEB-XXL^aNdRe build your own version
<WEB-XXL^aNdRe> ok thx-
<Disi> anyone here who had setup the coureir suite?
<Disi> anyone here?
<Disi> *knock knock* :)
<^wolf^> no
<Disi> eijeijei :) hi
<Disi> can you help me out with maildrop an courier?
<^wolf^> nope, sorry
<Disi> ok :(
<Disi> its quite depressing *argh* :)
<MysticOne> where do I need to look for documentation on running a particular program when mail is received for a specific address?
<phych0> anyone use anything other than Spam******in for filtering mail?
<phych0> (pref lightweight)
<smesjz> spamc/spamd is quite lightweight. I scripted a Ruby app some time ago, that extracted URLs from a mail and looked those URLs up in SURBL. It stopped at the first match, quite lightweight.
<smesjz> hi f3ew
<phych0> im gonna try dspam i think
<phych0> pref. with mysql tho
<MysticOne> dspam looks really, really nice
<MysticOne> and I got it working to filter the spam in like 5 minutes
<MysticOne> but since users can't login to the web interface to configure it for themselves, it sort of defeats the purpose :)
<phych0> sweet
<phych0> need to have a look
<phych0> heh
<phych0> its only gonna be me thats using this one anywayt
<phych0> so its not too much of a problem
<phych0> can u use it beside spam***asin?
<MysticOne> yeah
<phych0> bah got d/c
<MysticOne> :(
<phych0> heh
<phych0> <phych0> heh
<phych0> <phych0> its only gonna be me thats using this one anywayt
<phych0> <phych0> so its not too much of a problem
<phych0> <phych0> can u use it beside spam***asin?
<phych0> didnt see any replies to that/if there were any :P
<MysticOne> yes, you can use dspam instead of spam******in
<phych0> can you use both at the same time though?
<MysticOne> and it'll use clamav for anti-virus stuff too if you want to make it do that
<MysticOne> you could, though I don't know why you'd want to
<phych0> heh
<phych0> k
<phych0> dspam better?
<MysticOne> it's more configurable from what I can tell
<phych0> k
<phych0> sweet
<MysticOne> plus it's written in C
<phych0> yea
<phych0> wow.. it looks nice
<phych0> gonna give it a go once i get my pop3s/imaps up
<skou> Hey all... im trying to setup postfix + pop3 with mysql support, but I cant seem to find out what pop3 daemon that I should use , any suggestions?
<MysticOne> do you want imap too?
<skou> nope, just pop3
<MysticOne> I was going to say courier-imap is good if you want both
<MysticOne> I don't know if courier-pop3d is available all by itself
<skou> but else I could just use courier-imap and somehow disable the imap functions? (they are firewalled anyways)
<MysticOne> yah
<MysticOne> prolly
<skou> okay
<skou> been following this one : http://postfixwiki.org/index.php?title=Virtual_Users_and_Domains_with_Courier-IMAP_and_MySQL#Courier-IMAP_Install
<skou> but im kinda stuck when it gets to the installation of the courier thing
<MysticOne> where are you getting stuck?
<skou> well i've installed everything I believe
<skou> but I could really use a tutorial on how courier-imap works, and im not sure if incomming mail gets stored in the maildirs
<skou> (my sys.adm just quit, and I need this up and running) :-)
<ladytooto> hi to everyone in the channel...i have a question. on my mail server, i'd like the address rewriting and the lookup to happen all at once before it's sent to the relay host. for example. if someone sends an address to user@example.example.com,
<ladytooto> it's rewritten to user@example.com and sent to my internal host..
<ladytooto> without checking in the recipients lookup table on the mail server itself..so spammers are now byp***ing
<ladytooto> the checks.
<f3ew> uh?
<ladytooto> hey f3ew...yeah..i probably didn't explain that well :)
<ladytooto> my external mail server just accepts the connection (does some initial checks) and p***es it to the inside mail server where content filtering is done and then delivered
<ladytooto> i have a lookup table on that external host for allowed recipients so if someone sends to a user not in that table, it gets rejected right there so it doesn't need to relay it to my inside host
<ladytooto> the thing is, if someone sends to user@example.example.com...it gets rewritten to user@example.com then p***ed off to the internal host..it doesn't even bother to check if it's a valid recipient
<ladytooto> whereas if someone sends to user@example.com..it's checked against the receipient table and if that user doesn't exist, it's rejected and not even relayed to the internal host.
<f3ew> so tell postfix not to accept mail for sub.example.com
<f3ew> See parent_domain_matches_subdomains
<ladytooto> ok i'll try that..thanks f3ew...i can let mynetworks send for subdomains right? external users shouldn't be sending to host.example.com..but i know that we various scripts that send to different hosts on our network for whatever reason
<f3ew> ladytooto yes
<ladytooto> great..thanks f3ew for the help..i'll have a look at that parameter. :)
<f3ew> yw
