<CHIEF> I code my own way, not the standard way.
<CHIEF> My own way validates, and works.
<Zeros> heh
<CHIEF> So in my mind, there is no problem with it.
<Zeros> well in the world of web standards, your CSS has 11 errors
<CHIEF> I am a coding noob
<slide> heh
<CHIEF> I never said i wont look into CSS
<CHIEF> just a tad bit overwhelming at this point in time.
<slide> Wow, my xslt is coming out awesome ;)
<slide> well 'working' awesome, the svg is the thing 'coming' out awesome hehe
<Mahmoud> Going to attach my server's test power supply permanently... it's working very fine.. I'll be offline till the server is fixed :). bye
<Mahmoud> Does Opera support SOCKS proxies?!
<Mahmoud> I don't see any thing about 'socks' in preferences > network.
<Madpilot> Mahmoud: I seem to recall reading that it didn't, but I'm not sure. Checked the help?
<Mahmoud> Opera currently does not have support for SOCKS
<Mahmoud> help.opera.com says..
<Mahmoud> http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=194
<Ocoth> tax began to piss me off
<Ocoth> so I'm going back to coding :P
<Ocoth> I might even prefer IE hacking to tax
<MFen> is there a technique for programmatically selecting part of a text box?
<MFen> i'm building a predictive typeahead widget
<MFen> so let's say "alligator" is a possible input, and you type "al", i can already fill in the "ligator", but i also want to programmatically select "ligator" so that if the user continues to type, he will type over the selected area
<MFen> all i see is node.select(), which selects all of it
<MFen> something like what google suggest does to the main input field
<MFen> (i could care less about the dropdown underneth)
<Mahmoud> Hey guys!
<Mahmoud> Good news =)
<Mahmoud> Bill Gates dead..
<Mahmoud> LOL
<Mahmoud> Happy?
<Mahmoud> j/k
<Mahmoud> The company I interviews called me back saying we want to hire you after the interview
<Mahmoud> My first real interview for an IT related job...
<Jonathan23> how can I create a text running from the right to the left?
<Mahmoud> Jonathan23: <html dir="rtl">
<Mahmoud> Jonathan23: Is this what you mean? The whole page will be right to left.. Good if you are creating a site for right to left languages such as Arabic.
<muhoo> bill gates is really dead? no way. he's a young guy still.
<Jonathan23> I want a scrolling text
<Jonathan23> horizontal
<Jonathan23> how I can do that
<Madpilot> do you mean a marquee?
<Jonathan23> yes
<nshb> javascript and css
<nshb> otherwise known as dhtml
<Madpilot> I think it's just <marquee>Text here!</marquee> or something like that
<nshb> wouldn't that be easy ;)
<Madpilot> but frankly, it's the 2nd most irritating effect ever invented, right behind <blink>
<Madpilot> nshb: didn't there used to be some easy scroller like that?
<nshb> don't remember a scroller like that
<nshb> I do remember blink though ;)
<Madpilot> I try hard to forget blink
<Madpilot> I'm afraid to admit that I think I used it on my first webpage, back in 1998 or so...
<xroberx> morning
<xroberx> is there any cross-browser-way(TM) to set <input> height so the text gets vertically aligned ? konqueror ignores padding for <input> but puts the text inside it vertically aligned, whereas firefox accepts padding but if you set a height the text is aligned to the top :S
<nshb> what about line-height?
<xroberx> i've tried it already
<nshb> hmm
<Jonathan23> the marquee is working
<Jonathan23> how can we edit the speed
<Mahmoud> Hi rindolf!
<xroberx> hi gandalf
<Mahmoud> xroberx: What does it mean? :/
<xroberx> oops :S
<xroberx> rindolf of course
<xroberx> damn lord of the rings
<Jonathan23> with a marquee how can we stop when our mouse is over
<xroberx> marquees are evil
<xroberx> i personally hate them
<JibberJim> onmouseover="this.someProperty=0" where someProperty is the one relating to speed
<xroberx> but even though i've never used them, i would just kill the timer that lets it "play"
<rindolf> Mahmoud: hi!
<rindolf> Mahmoud: what's up?
<Mahmoud> rindolf: Found a job :P
<Jonathan23> I cannot use onmouseover
<rindolf> Mahmoud: that's great.
<rindolf> Mahmoud: what will you do in this job?
<Mahmoud> rindolf: I am lazy.. Don't want to work..
<xroberx> Jonathan23: if you can't use onmousover and you need to stop it when the mouse is over, then you are in trouble :P
<Mahmoud> rindolf: IT Support Specialist (the job title).
<rindolf> Mahmoud: OK.
<Mahmoud> My first real interview for an IT-related job..
<rindolf> Mahmoud: I have some mp3's of Israeli songs on my home site if you want to download and hear.
<Mahmoud> Okay, where is the link?
<rindolf> Mahmoud: wait a sec.
<Mahmoud> Okay..
<rindolf> Mahmoud: http://www.shlomifish.org/Files/files/music/mp3-ogg/
<rindolf> http://eskimo.shlomifish.org/Files/files/music/mp3-ogg/
<Mahmoud> downloading the first song..
<rindolf> Mahmoud: "Chen" is a parody on "Stan" by Eminem. If you understand Hebrew, then it would be insanely funny.
<Mahmoud> :D
<Mahmoud> Sadly, I dont..
<Mahmoud> Cool
<Mahmoud> The beginning of the first soung is awsom..
<rindolf> Mahmoud: which song?
<Mahmoud> rindolf: I listened to the first song only
<rindolf> Mahmoud: yes, but which first song?
<Mahmoud> umm
<Mahmoud> Asi ve'Guri - Chen.mp3
<rindolf> Mahmoud: OK.
<rindolf> Mahmoud: yes, this is the Stan parody.
<Mahmoud> Never heard of him, but the song is cool.
<Mahmoud> I don't listen to songs..
<Mahmoud> Same thing with Arab songs.. I don't memorize singers names
<rindolf> Mahmoud: "Stan" is the name of the song. By "Eminem".
<Mahmoud> I see.
<rindolf> Mahmoud: I personnaly hate the "Stan" song, but love the Asi and Guri "Chen" parody.
<Mahmoud> I'll try it
<rindolf> Mahmoud: is the pay good in your new job?
<Mahmoud> rindolf: Not sure..
<Mahmoud> rindolf: But every one likes working there..
<rindolf> Mahmoud: OK, that's good.
<Mahmoud> rindolf: I think that's the one I listented to..
<Mahmoud> sleep time..
<Mahmoud> night
<rindolf> Mahmoud: sleep tight!
