<it> my compy == retarded. <luke> killertux: hmm cant downgrade driver more cos then its not able to compile module <luke> killertux: so what was the second possibility with libGL ? <analia> hello. i have a question. i'm trying to install winrar, and as it uses some Mozilla ActiveX the wine program downloads the Mozilla ActiveX to fix it, and launches the installer. So, i have installed mozilla suite (complete, not firefox) but the ActiveX control installer seems to seek a "mozilla\bin" directory which is not installed. <analia> some ideas? <it> Yeah. Tell me how the hell you got wine to install <it> mine won't <analia> it: i'm using debian. apt-get install wine. <it> Package wine is not available, but is referred to by another package. <it> This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or <it> is only available from another source <analia> it: em... what are you using? debian sid? sarge? maybe you where playing with your /etc/apt/sources.list ? <it> Probably the sources.list because I have extra things down there. But not the wine things <it> I just ****ing put them in there <it> Holy ****. <it> Yeah okay they're there <analia> it: it happens. that's why i'm stick with the sarge main and contrib only :) <analia> well. i go now <analia> luck with that <it> k bye. <it> okay I did the whole thing with apt but apt-get install wine doesn't work still <luke> analia: I had same problem , hold on <luke> analia: still here <luke> ? <KimmoKM> Wow! Application database says Fritz 6 works "gold" with Wine now. In fact, page says it is faster than in windows. :) <KimmoKM> I must try it tomorrow. <KimmoKM> It is thing what I most lack in GNU/Linux, very good chess game/engine. <dragonbyte> does anyone know if itunes works with wine? <Sergonium> look in the app database <dragonbyte> where is that at? <Sergonium> http://appdb.winehq.org/search.php?q=itunes <dragonbyte> hrm thanks...doesnt look like its gunna work out well <Rahu> Im having trouble with the mozilla active x control. It says it can't find the mozilla/bin directory, anyone know how to fix this? <vitamin> weel sort of <vitamin> do this: <vitamin> cd where/it/installed/itself <vitamin> cd ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files/Mozilla\ ActiveX\ Control\ v1.7.12 <vitamin> ln -s msvcp70.dll msvcp60.dll <vitamin> wine regsvr32 mozctlx.dll <vitamin> That should work <vitamin> Rahu, did that worked? <Marupa> I'm trying to run a program that uses my CD rom drive, under wine, but wine seems not to be able to find my CD rom drive. any settings I need to change? <vitamin> What wine version? Run "wine --version" <Marupa> 20050725 <vitamin> upgrade <vitamin> then use winecfg to configure your cd-rom <Marupa> thanks <Talyn600m> are there downloadable themes yet for wine, since winecfg has a theme option? <vitamin> sure <vitamin> those that work on XP <Marupa> Hmmm...it seems my installed version was later than the one that just installed... (20050211-2) <vitamin> Only don't use themes with older progs, as they expose some bugs in Wine <Talyn600m> uh... what themes for xp? <vitamin> Marupa, the latest one is 0.9.2 <vitamin> Talyn600m, winXP that is <Marupa> should I grab it from some other source? <vitamin> Marupa, I guess so <Talyn600m> right, but there are all kinds of diff theme programs... what am i looking for specifically? <Marupa> or do I have to compile it, for mandriva? <vitamin> Talyn600m, a theme that can be installed on windows XP <Talyn600m> there's a mandriva package <Talyn600m> or should be <vitamin> Marupa, go to winehq.com -> download <Marupa> already there :) <vitamin> Yep, <Talyn600m> no, what i'm saying is: i'm sure wine themes don't mean something like a stardock theme, and i've never seen (granted, i don't go looking either) generic xp themes anywhere that "just install and go" <vitamin> Talyn600m, wine can load only windows XP themes <vitamin> What's so hard about this? <|Graz-z|> banana banana banana banana terracota <|Graz-z|> banana terracotta terracotta pie <Talyn600m> ok i give up lol <vitamin> Talyn600m, there is a dir under winnt/themes or something <vitamin> Talyn600m, hold on, looking <Talyn600m> no all i'm saying is "xp theme" is pretty vague, there are a ton of various theming systems for xp <vitamin> You need a file with extention wine regsvr32 mozctlx.dllmsstyles <vitamin> grr <Marupa> the program is still not finding the drive. <vitamin> have you deleted ~/.wine dir? <vitamin> If not, do that <Marupa> mmk, trying it. <vitamin> then run winecfg and verify that you have d: -> your cd-rom mount point <vitamin> if not, add it <Marupa> well, the problem might be that it's trying to /search/ scsi/atapi for it. <|Graz-z|> recompiling kernel <|Graz-z|> lal <vitamin> Marupa, what do you mean? <Marupa> one moment. <vitamin> Is there are some messages in the console? <Marupa> hold on. <vitamin> don't paste more then 3 lines! <Marupa> trying to re-create the error. <Marupa> The program reports: <Marupa> Initializing STPI...Searching for SCSI/ATAPI Devices...No Devices Detected! <vitamin> yup that doesn't work <vitamin> what program is this? <Marupa> DVD Decrypter. >.> <vitamin> ah no, it doesn't work <Marupa> well, is there a program like that for linux? <vitamin> the only part that was implemented in wine is aspi <vitamin> but it's old and doesn't work anymore on newer linux versions <vitamin> Dunno. Why you need it? Just play dvds ;-) <Marupa> trying to rip DVDs so I don't have to lug 100 DVDs around when i go on vacation. <vitamin> well dunno <Talyn600m> vitamin: so does wine do full themes (*.theme) or just the visual styles (*.msstyle) ? <reading about them now> <vitamin> theme is <vitamin> a discription of what's inside msstyles <vitamin> Wine doesn't use it <Marupa> erf. and also, wine is now again using the stupid 'Adventure' font, rather than arial. <Talyn600m> so just an *.msstyle file <vitamin> yup <Marupa> just grab arial from my XP install? if so, where do I put it? <vitamin> ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts <the> I'm back for more help because my wine still won't install itself correctly. <vitamin> the, what linux? How are you installing wine? <the> I'm on Ubuntu..and I got the cvs package <vitamin> ok <the> ./configure runs fine and everything but when I do make depend && make it freaks out <vitamin> haw you got all that wine needs? <the> haw? <the> yeah <the> I'm using gcc-3.4 <vitamin> ok, how did you got cvs? <vitamin> and when? <the> I got it like yesterday. <vitamin> how? <vitamin> cvs checkout? <the> downloading and installing/compiling <the> and then I checked out the wine files <the> make[2]: *** [casemap.o] Error 1 <the> make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/god/winer/wine/wine/libs/unicode' <the> make[1]: *** [unicode] Error 2 <the> make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/god/winer/wine/wine/libs' <the> make: *** [libs] Error 2 <the> That's what it says after about 1000 warnings <vitamin> ok please make sure that you checked out into current dir <the> I did <vitamin> and not created a new "wine" dir <the> I didn't. I'm in the folder with the configure file and stuff <vitamin> run "cvs up" for me <vitamin> did it say anything? <the> it's updating everything <the> alright it's done <vitamin> ok <vitamin> run "make -s distclean" <vitamin> then "./configure" <the> mmkay.
