If you bought the low power one, then thats what you've got. <ArchitectSinan> how can i learn which i model i bought <jdhutchin1> look at the card <jdhutchin1> it should tell you <ArchitectSinan> where it will tell me ? <dragorn> or, as always, google it <dragorn> since there seems to be a ton of sites in a language I don't read that discuss it <ArchitectSinan> i found a german page "http://home.arcor.de/bibmaster/senao_home.html" <ArchitectSinan> i hope it will help <ArchitectSinan> thanks friends :) <dragorn> if it's just firmware limited, you can probably find a firmware to do it <deadcat> anyone having trouble compiling linux-wlan-ng with 2.6.14? <ArchitectSinan> yep dragorn i think http://home.arcor.de/bibmaster/senao_home.html page has the .hex (firmwares) files too ;) <cpm> no, thank goodness, I'm not compiling it. What kinda trouble you having? I've not budged since 2.6.10 <deadcat> cpm: actually 2.6.12 was fine. the p80211 was failing <cpm> kernel.org kernel source? Or distro specific? <deadcat> kernel.org source <cpm> hrmm. <cpm> Wierd, those source trees usually work ;) <deadcat> cpm: ya <deadcat> what kern you using? <cpm> well, that depends, on my laptop here, 2.6.10, <cpm> all my "useful" stuff is still 2.4 <cpm> moved my firewall to 2.4.22 recently. <deadcat> ah. <cpm> I still have 2 (quan) 2.4.2 kernels on production machines, and one really ancient 2.0.16 kernel running on a old 486 with 2 modems on it. can't find a reason to upgrade. <cpm> damned machine won't die! <jdhutchin1> I can help it <deadcat> (= <jdhutchin1> got a sledgehammer nearby? <jdhutchin1> ooohhh, or a blowtorch <jdhutchin1> flowers are fun to burn with blowtorches <cpm> that one with the 2.0.16 kernel, was running 1.13 or something when I came to work here over 9 years ago. It was the sendmail box at the time. And it was an open relay. Part of the reason I got a job. <jdhutchin1> esp after a while when you're on not-quite-so-good terms with the person who gave you the flowers <GotD0t> jdhutchin1: do i want to know the story behind that? <jdhutchin1> heh <cpm> 496/33 8megs, 400 meg hard drive. <cpm> s/496/486 <jdhutchin1> well, short story, had a relationship, ended really bitter for me, one day had meatmanek come over, we were going to get a key out of lock <jdhutchin1> (the key was stuck in the lock, had already taken it out of the door) <jdhutchin1> we were going to smash it out, burn it, etc, but on his way over I got it out <jdhutchin1> so we burned the boutinere she gave me for prom instead <GotD0t> oh <jdhutchin1> now I have a bundle of blackened wires sitting on a shelf in my garage <GotD0t> haha <GotD0t> thats... amazing <jdhutchin1> which part? <jdhutchin1> I haven't bothered to tell her yet <GotD0t> you should just leave it on her front door with a note attached <jdhutchin1> haha <jdhutchin1> or give it to her in person <GotD0t> nah, i think it would be more dramatic to leave it on her front doorstep <GotD0t> just watch from afar with binoculars <GotD0t> haha <jdhutchin1> but doing that would probably ruin my chances with a few other people <GotD0t> bah, women who talk **** like that piss me off <GotD0t> luckily my ex doesn't know anybody i'd ever been interested in <jdhutchin1> yeah, lucky <GotD0t> the same goes for the girl i'm working on now <jdhutchin1> yeah, I was kinda working on someone (more or less testing waters) <jdhutchin1> have since decided that the pool is pretty much empty and it's not worth it <GotD0t> hehe <[g2]> so what wifi distro are you guys running, if any ? <jdhutchin1> debian <GotD0t> wifi distro? <[g2]> yeah like OpenWRT <Pablo> mikrotik <Pablo> :D <Pablo> ikarus <Pablo> star <[g2]> Pablo sounds like a staros guy :) <GotD0t> nothing... my POS linksys .11b ap works just fine (considering I don't use the wifi at my house) <Pablo> mikrotik = backhaul <Pablo> ikarus = ap and cpe <Pablo> staros = old times <GotD0t> jdhutchin1: i asked this girl in my college english cl*** out for some coffee today... she politely declined saying she didn't drink coffee... and i was like "oh damn"... but then she expressed interest in hanging out sometime during the week <[g2]> I haven't heard of ikarus <Pablo> www.antcor.com <[g2]> thx <Pablo> sure <Pablo> it now has atheros drivers in it... not madwifi... in the new 2. version <Pablo> which is to sweet <cpm> well, I'm using residential "broadband" for the first time in my life. 2.4mbit dsl. I'm not impressed. Sure, it's got bandwidth, but dns response is abymismal! <cpm> man, how do folks put up with this? <Pablo> I have my own dns <cpm> registered host? <cpm> yeah, I point at some of my dns servers, it's not so bad, but the default is terrible! <Pablo> I am happy with my dsl... it isnt a ds3 but it works fine <jdhutchin1> GotD0t, lucky <jdhutchin1> GotD0t, girl I was kinda going after, said something about lunch after the sat's we were taking <jdhutchin1> GotD0t, she said she'd call me (my tests ended earlier), but never did, apparently she lost where she wrote down my number <GotD0t> jdhutchin1: yea... i was really disappointed for about 30 seconds, until she asked to hang out sometime during the week <GotD0t> oh that ****s <jdhutchin1> unfortunately, I don't have any cl***es with this girl, and don't really see her a whole lot <GotD0t> btw... how did you do on the october sat? <jdhutchin1> got 800's on my sat II's (math 2, chem, physics) <GotD0t> you're kidding <GotD0t> thats great <jdhutchin1> thanks <jdhutchin1> how'd you do? <GotD0t> I'm going to do horribly on the chem sat II next week <jdhutchin1> have you taken a year of chem? <GotD0t> yea <GotD0t> honors chem in HS <jdhutchin1> just review some, the sparknotes site has their review book, worked well for me <jdhutchin1> it'll come back <GotD0t> i'm in a chemistry course now <jdhutchin1> ah, then you're fine <GotD0t> chem1045 @ the local college... its pretty much like the first semester of an AP chem cl*** <GotD0t> i think <jdhutchin1> sat II's aren't really that bad <jdhutchin1> the math one is pretty easy, chem isn't that bad <jdhutchin1> the physics one covers a really wide range of stuff, but not very deeply <GotD0t> and I'm taking the biology m next week as well <jdhutchin1> can't help you there, I stay as far away from bio as I can <GotD0t> hehe <GotD0t> oh ill get pretty close to an 800 i think <jdhutchin1> are you going to take the math one? <GotD0t> nope <cpm> Pablo, I'm just trying to get an idea of what it is that folks call "good" service. This is a friends network, it's adephia residential dsl. This is what folks talk about as being a reasonable home service. <GotD0t> me + math tests == bad <GotD0t> i dont do very well on the standardized math tests <jdhutchin1> ah <GotD0t> yea <GotD0t> only bio and chemistry <GotD0t> i did, however, go up on my SAT math section by 10 points <jdhutchin1> that's good <GotD0t> but its still a pretty bad score <GotD0t> heh <Pablo> so what do you call good service cpm? <cpm> Now, near as a I can tell, To get out of adelphias network onto a real backbone, like AS7018, I have to cross 13 hops, and transit L3 to get to AT$T, and I loose packets on the way. yeah, it's /fast/ but has really bad latency. I wonder if it's QOS for all the local skype users. <jdhutchin1> how'd you do on the essay? good, bad, horrible? <GotD0t> oh i went down 20 points for the writing section <GotD0t> got a 6 this time <GotD0t> an 8 the first time i took it <jdhutchin1> I got like a 7 on my essay I think <jdhutchin1> writing section... I didn't do very well
