<bhearsum> is there any way to make the control widget and the playlist widget open to the top when they aren't attached?
<nekostar> bhearsum, ive noticed in the config file for xmms that there are positions for each module in it... try messing with those yet? brb
<bhearsum> i don't think that will help
<quiree> hi, anyone alive?
<quiree> xmms doesnt play http streams anymore, any ideas why?
<quiree> console gives "** WARNING **: ctrl_write_packet(): Failed to send data: Broken pipe"
<sacarasc> my guess is gentoo did it
<quiree> sacarasc: ohh suprise, im using gentoo, right
<quiree> sacarasc: anyideas for the reason?
<sacarasc> gentoo's patches
<quiree> ahh ok, at least an approach
<quiree> rereading bugs.gentoo.org then
<sacarasc> which mp3 decoder are you using?
<quiree> good question, how can i find out?
<sacarasc> ctrl+p > i/o plugins
<sacarasc> mainly, is mad enabled
<quiree> input plugin section has mad enabled..
<sacarasc> if so disable it
<quiree> right, thats the case
<quiree> ok trying..
<sacarasc> and get the mpeg 1/2/3 plugin, if you dont have it
<quiree> u mean media-plugins/xmms-mpg123?
<quiree> this one?
<sacarasc> ya
<quiree> ok mergin
<sacarasc> the one that xmms comes with and gentoo removed...
<quiree> ahh ok, thx for the pointer
<quiree> xmms works again
<quiree> http streams to be mor eprecise
<sacarasc> now, ***** at your local package maintainer
<sacarasc> ;D
<quiree> heh ok
<quiree> btw why doesnt the mpg123 plugin appear in the plugin section?
<quiree> ahh sorry, just overlooked it
<sacarasc> heh
<quiree> btw are u xmms dev?
<sacarasc> nope, just someone who gets bored a lot and sees this bug way too often
<quiree> imjust curious about the future of xmms because of other projects like bmp and so on
<quiree> heh
<zinx> xmms isn't abandoned yet
<sacarasc> xmms just won the linux journal user choice thing for the 6th year running...
<zinx> xmms2 is a separate project, which is intended to replace it, however
<zinx> (different devs and everything :) )
<quiree> ok, was hoping to get this answer. no question, it does the job very well :)
<quiree> thx
<quiree> 6th year? nice
<quiree> hhm alsa out works, xmms-crossfade with alsa pluging doesnt.
<quiree> any ideas why?
<zinx> alsa can be somewhat silly sometimes
<zinx> i recommend using the oss output plugin, and making sure alsa's oss emulation is loaded
<quiree> it did earlier with gentoo mad, so, mpg123 plugin might not be the reason?
<quiree> ok, trying oss just tomake sure
<quiree> crossfade oss also doesnt work
<quiree> hhm
<zinx> dunno then
<quiree> hhm ok, will retry with crossfade tommorow. thx
<sizzam> im looking for a way to dock xmms in the gnome notification area so that its removed from the window list
<zinx> you can hide the window without docking it
<sizzam> how do you do that?
<zinx> alt-w or use the right-click menu
<sizzam> thats interesting, how do you bring it back after an alt-w
<zinx> xmms -m
<sizzam> cool, thanks zinx
<sizzam> other than that, know of any docklet plugins for it
<zinx> gxmms
<sizzam> perfect, my issue with gxmms was that it didnt remove it from the window list, but you've solved that for me
<sizzam> thanks again
<orion88> how can i get mkisofs to leave my filenames alone?
<Fatal> uh,say what?
<teklo> does anyone know of an xmms plugiin that expands stereo channels to 5.1 or 7.1 just by duplicating them
