<Rebekah> b/c nowhere is as cheap as they are <Rebekah> the funny thing is Wal-Mart hates Md and has very few stores in the state and only ONE in my entire county. It's not nearly as convenient here as it is in other parts of the country. <NadiaK> wallmart is like a cheapo shopping mart right? <NadiaK> walmart* <Rebekah> NadiaK, extremely cheapo shopping <NadiaK> oh lmao <DragonShip> And I'm on a VA pension which does leave something to be desired in the local economy. <NadiaK> so why do people go there? <NadiaK> all i ever hear is how bad they are :S <plummy> hi Everybody :> <Rebekah> b/c they move into low income areas, offer such cheap prices that everybody shops there, all other local stores close due to lack of business, and then they have a monopoly on the business. <Rebekah> plummy :) <NadiaK> oh <NadiaK> Hi plummy :) <Rebekah> In a lot of rural areas of the US, Wal Mart is all you've got in terms of shopping. <Rebekah> It's also a HUGE employer... but they pay crap & their benefits ****. <NadiaK> :S <Dr_jehat> hello everybody <NadiaK> Sounds **** <Rebekah> Md p***ed a law last yr that was dubbed the Wal Mart Law - Md requires that businesses over a certain size either offer benefits at a certain level OR contribute a certain percentage of their revenue to the state coffers for medicaid (subsidized health coverage)... <Rebekah> that's why Wal Mart hates Md :D <NadiaK> Md? <Rebekah> There's only three employers in Md (Maryland) that are large enough to qualify for that law and only Wal Mart wasn't already in compliance with it when it went into effect. <VinceDPrince> gud day!!! <NadiaK> ohh <DragonShip> Rebekah, locally they had a harder time of putting local business out of business because local business is ... well, local. They can undercut all they want, but a lot of things simply aren't on their inventory or people have more commitment to local tradition. Or both. <DragonShip> What they have done is undercut places like Penny's, K-Mart, etc. <thethug> hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii <Rebekah> true... but local in Hawaii is a bit different than local in the midwest :P <NadiaK> i got a question for you both, Has any Mc Donalds in America been forced to close? <DragonShip> VEry true. And their way of doing business here is somewhat different. I think they know that if they don't play by LOCAL rules, they get to find out what it feels like to be abandoned for other stores. <DragonShip> Nope, NadiaK. Quite the opposite, actually. <Rebekah> NadiaK, not that I know of ... but here, most McD's are franchises, not coporate owned. <NadiaK> oh ok <BadInfluence> hi everyone :-) <NadiaK> I just heard today that we have (locally) the only Mc Donalds forced out of business.. :S <NadiaK> or had i should say <Rebekah> how were they forced outta business? <NadiaK> Heya BadInfluence :) <Rebekah> mornin' BadInfluence :) <BadInfluence> hello NadiaK :-) <NadiaK> Rebekah, i think i recall not enough customers due to competition <BadInfluence> Rebekah :-) I now know that `Squirt and you are the same, so no more ''ltns'' hehe <Elliotone> ping me <gentle-dave> hi <Rebekah> NadiaK... ahh, we had one local one here that went out of business but I don't know if they left voluntarily for a better location or what. <NadiaK> yeh i dunno <NadiaK> Its probably not true but heh i'm checking it out anyway lol <Rebekah> of course, within two miles of my house there's two McD's <Rebekah> and another three if I went out 3 miles <DragonShip> Here, they, Burger King and Jack in the Box are doing a lively 3-way split with business for all. <Rebekah> we don't have jack in the box :( <NadiaK> I've got about 3 in walking distance from me <NadiaK> though i have a large walking distance <Rebekah> I'm american... I don't walk anywhere :P <NadiaK> LMAO <NadiaK> I have access to alot of transport but i'm trying to stay as fit as possible lol, so i try to walk <Rebekah> DragonShip, do you know anything about le creuset cookware? <Rebekah> NadiaK, I just bought a new car. I gotta break it in! <NadiaK> Ooh, what kind of Car Rebs? :> <DragonShip> Not by name, Rebekah. Sorry. <NadiaK> wb chmod :) <BadInfluence> wb and hi chmod^ <chmod^> heya BadInfluence <chmod^> ty NadiaK <jooly> s'lut tout l'monde <DragonShip> As to walking ... I get that when I go on a photo shoot 'cuz most of the palces are so far off the beaten path they don't really even have names. Not even local ones. <Rebekah> okies, DragonShip - it's cast iron stuff but it's coated in enamel so you can wash it & nt worry about having to "season" it. <DragonShip> Oh, now that's just plain WRONG. Cast iron HAS to be seasoned to be right. Enamel ware is something else entirely. <NadiaK> lol DragonShip, must keep you fairly active with all those photoshoots i ***ume :) <Rebekah> nah... you get the benefits of cast iron cooking w/out the h***le :P <lance35m> ctc <lance35m> hi there <Rebekah> L. really wants a le creuset wok but it's like $120 for a matte black one or $170 for a pretty colored one <chmod^> get a black one <Rebekah> black doesn't go with my kitchen :P <Rebekah> then again, none of the colors go wither. <far_Q> hello, anyone wanna chat <DragonShip> NadiaK, I had one little foray that caused my doctor to order up 10 Ace bandages for me. The wide ones. With refills. <budea> hello? <Rebekah> hello, budea <budea> hello rebekah <NadiaK> DragonShip, :S <DragonShip> Rebekah, so basically it's enamel ware that's made of cast iron. <chmod^> Rebekah: but who would want a colorful wok <mham> kkk <Rebekah> DragonShip, yeah I guess *shrug* <Rebekah> chmod^, he wants the red one :P <chmod^> we have a plain black one, and its not pretty to look at, but it gets the job done <far_Q> hi <Rebekah> ugh. <Rebekah> ten horses died in a fire this morning. :/ <far_Q> 10 <dinogdog> ding <funny_dalia> hi all <bellhorse> !seen cat|woman <chmod^> heya bellhorse <bellhorse> heya chmod^, do i know u? <chmod^> sort of <bellhorse> how? <DragonShip> Not good, Rebekah. I wish there was a way to filter my tv so anytime they tried to show Pres. Bush on it, it would automatically change the channel <chmod^> bellhorse: yea i know, but i remember the nick name <chmod^> i remember weird stuff tho <DragonShip> Rebekah, a brick would do but it might become expensive. <Rebekah> nah, the tv was a gift... I rather like it. <Rebekah> even just automatic mute so I wouldn't have to hear him would be good enough <BadInfluence> I watch tv while it's on mute for hours at a stretch lol <hobm> how do u know if u have a trogan virus <BadInfluence> hi Trish` <Trish`> heya Bad <chmod^> heya trish =) <Trish`> heya Dom :) <hobm> how do u know if u have a trogan virus <Trish`> do a virus scan <Trish`> how's y'all <BLUE-VIRUS> so <chmod^> Trish`: i am good, and how are u? <BLUE-VIRUS> im a ***y guy and i have a big .....u now what imean <Rebekah> mouth? <chmod^> ego? <NadiaK> problem i'd say <Trish`> good good thanks, finally starting to feel better <Wildcat-Dad> any ladies who would like to chat with a single dad...please message me <chmod^> ug, my cards **** <Trish`> whatcha playing? <hobm> trish are u american or canadian or austrillian <chmod^> texas hold em <Trish`> ahhh, sounds like fun <hobm> answer the question <hobm> please <NadiaK> BLUE-VIRUS, dont private me <BLUE-VIRUS> why that? <BLUE-VIRUS> u started <chmod^> you have to respect the NadiaK , word <NadiaK> yep <Trish`> same for me too Blue-Virus <BLUE-VIRUS> wowww 1on 1 babys <wildlily> hello everyone
